Neo Geo AES to Neo Geo CD Project

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Neo Geo AES to Neo Geo CD Project

Post by Grimlock »

The link is spanish, but basically it says (according to freetranslation.com) that a way to convert AES roms to CD images has been developed. Yes yes i know this is touchy because it suggests warez. But if we can just ignore that aspect of it and focus on the concept of conversion, this topic may remain alive. Do any of you think this is true? And if so...where can we get it? This would make Quzar's (and the other author's) work even more valuable.

I had to remove the link due to the downloads for the files being linked from the topic, but I just tried it in NeoCD SDL, and it actually worked. I'm a little surprised by this, but not much, as all of the Neo Geo formats (AES/MVS/CD) are nearly identical hardware wise.

I translated the original post for those who can't read spanish or didn't get the link.

Kanyero has come up with a lot of NeoGeo CD ISOs that have been created from NeoGeo Roms, which cannot be found in the NeoGeo CD game catalogue. You can find things like Pochi and Nyaa or King of the Monsters, although, don't forget to read the bug list because not everything works perfectly. Great job by Kanyero, Kikexx, and Newdump.

They were able to do it with a few TINY games. Basically any game for the NG that is already playable on the DC.

i think the link shouldn't have been deleted unless there was direct link to warez. is that so?

It does a lot of people a lot of good.
There aren't any decent NG emulators on the DC, so this is actually quite great.
I can confirm that the few of these I've tested work fine on my dreamcast.

Yes but how big are the games? It may very well go back to what Quzar was just saying...

That games are not very big size, so a dc neo geo emulator could make a better job, isn't it?
Certainly, I'd like to enjoy zupapa in dreamcast :P

This is cool, as the Neo Geo emu is much slower than the Neo geo CD emus. so that means all of the games which worked on that will now be full speed.

Shame there is no link for the tool

Wow... does that mean I can play Shock Troopers on the DC?

I always wondered if the files etc were similar.
