Wolfenstein 3d

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Wolfenstein 3d

Post by Speedracer »

:? Well for what its worth (not much) I have a Wolfenstein 3d ROM for Super Nintendo  ding, ding, ding, thats DreamSNES. It works full speed, full sound.

 The only catch, horrible graphics, extermly playable yet, Super Nintendo.

:?: :?: not sure what the PC ver. ported to DC is like though

Well, the SNES version was censored beyond belief (Swastikas removed, Hitler paintings removed, dogs replaced with rats), and of course this being the Super Nintendo and thus lacking the CPU speed to do a game such as Wolfenstein 3D justice, they cut down heavily on the texture detail and overall screen resolution.

The crt0's WolfDC is much better than the SNES version.

SNES
+Has music and sound
-crappy graphics
-censored heavily

DC
+Perfect graphics
+Full uncut version
-no sound or music

Dont know what you guys are talking talking about but theres a HUGE thing you didnt mention YOU CAN SAVE ON DSNES! That goes for DoomDC too theres a Doom rom for snes. Dont get me wrong I highly respect the authors of these emus. I believe an emulator can be good but cant be great without save support. Thats why i love DreamSNES and especially Quake 1!

So how does Doom SNES port run on DSNES? I remember the real game when a friend owned the cart and it was good considering the lack of CPU speed in the snes (<5Mhz?)

I havent seen a doom rom for snes, but it aint that hard to get a doom port to dc, the downside is that it is just shareware. Anyone know how to fix that.

Didn't Rand (The Bleem! programmer) port Doom to the SNES?

Rand coded a whole new game engine for the SNES for Doom... it was a rewrite rather than a port; he once explained to me in detail how the engine worked (specifically the renderer, which used the SuperFX2 chip afaik); I wish I had saved a log of it -_-

I have a doom rom for snes but every emulator I play it on it runs in slow motion. It might be a bad rom but from what I can tell it isn't that great. Your better off playing it on the PC.

What files needed to do it?

Post by HGDC »

I'm trying to burn Wolfenstein 3D with Nero 5.1.1.1. I tried straight from the .nrg image made with crt0?s self-boot process and with the settings file found here. I didn?t manage with either of the ways
Could somebody give me some kind of list from all the files required to play? (It doesn?t need to be self-bootable, I have Utopia disc). Or alternatively, how can I change settings to the ones required to burn it succesfully? If I do it from a .nrg image instead of using the setting file?s drag-and-drop system then I can?t use the setting options menu (including Mode 1 and Mode 2/XA systems.) Please help me if you know what to do ?cause I?m getting quite p*ssed off with this problem
And again, HGDC has left the building.
