This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Super Famicast V1

Post by Strapping Scherzo »

OK. Thanks for being patient everyone. I don't just mean patient when it comes to Super Famicast, but patient in regards to any release of a SNES emulator for Dreamcast in over a year. Version 1 of Super Famicast is ready for download. Yes, it has far to go from here but it's one helluva start.

Get it at Super Famicast's simple yet official website:
http://www.superfamicast.com/

Enjoy.

Well, I've downloaded the plain files and the source but the two split tails in the house are using the Windows machine. I guess I'll be burning this tomorrow.

Thanks, 'Zo. ;)

Yes, if someone creates an SBI for Super Famicast I'd be happy to post it on the download page.

I can make an SBI, just have to go test it really quickly, it should be up shortly. Thanks for all your work, Scherzo! :D

Ok, I burnt it. I must say I love the menu system. Dream O Rama and SMS Plus had the best menu systems until this one. Nice ;) I like to call up the main menu while running the game just to catch the little window with the current game I'm playing. I'm a dork.

The emulation works great on some games (like U.N. Squadron) and I should have expected the Konami games to run quite slow. But in all, I love this emu. :)

Stupendous for a first release :)

Kudos for all the hard work, scherzo!

Out of curiosity, what do you believe you primary focus(es) will be for the next release, or at least, the near/immediate future? General speed improvements, or correcting audio issues, for example.

I don't want anyone to hold you to anything after putting in so much time and effort to produce what you already have. I'm just interested in what direction Super Famicast may take from here, even if it's only for the next 2 hours. :D

Well just tested this out and I must say very impressive for a first release. As others have said I love the mini screen upon leaving a game in progress.

One thing though, anyone else find the roms menu font hard on the eyes. Maybe it's just my tv or the fact that I'm tired but it seems sorta fuzy or something.

Anyway again thanks for all your time and efforts, And I mean everybody who contributed from artwork to donations.

Great work scherzo on the first release. If any could help make a tut on how to make my own theme's, that would be great. Is it kinda of like making the sbi theme's?

It might be that the font is too small for a TV. I did lots of my testing on a monitor. You can always go edit the theme XML file and make the font bigger.

Scherzo, I hope that pizza money was put to good use. I have been in the sceen since the days that Sin from Sindteno was still working on his emu... I have always been a reader of the forums, but never a poster. But I just want to say THANK YOU to Scherzo! This is fantastic! Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the tip, going to check it out now. I think it is a lil small and with it having the white outline it seems to blur some letters together a little bit.

Then again I may just have to change my tv brightness settings :)

Nakamichi put the track up somewhere if you can or see if someone can. I for one will download it and put it into mine. I like the default track but I need something for the bowser theme!!
