Whats the best homebrew DC game?

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Since this is just another round of repeating our opinions, I'll go for Cool Herders. The only DC game that I actually can whistle the music for, and enjoy doing it.

They're fairly new but I enjoy "Catch the Chicken" and "Wadagaza!". They're part of the Epitech demo disc on the front page of DCEmulation. They have the best graphics of any DC homebrew game by far (Sorry, Tilinear) and they are incredibly fun and playable with lots of people.

Personally, there are too many good homebrews to pick just one. So I'd recommend doing what I did and download them all. Use the SBI packs to put them all on one disk, and enjoy hours of good homebrews. :D

ye, what melochony said was rite cause there really are to many good things........BUT wait till DCRPG(an mind blowing rpg with lots of gameplay and i estimate it to be a lot because it is going to be made by mr.siggler who made smash dc which is freakin addictive its scary..even more addictive then the g/b tetris, btw its also got a good story line :D) and FEET OF FURY(a very good copy of ddr that will have dwi support which means u can download most ddr mixes and play them on your dc..but unlike the pc dwi u will actually have animations in the background) come out

Amanda and High Cube

Post by beriberi1c »

Well, Amanda the Witch's Apprentice is the best most replayable game I have seen, but no sound is a big minus. High Cube really is limited in that level 7 is too hard, but it has good music. Honorable mention for DC Fighting: not a great game, but interesting to see how 3D fighting games work.

My real question, which I doubt anyone can answer is:

Are the following good games that need only a little bit of work to be much better (sound for many of them) have any current development, or are they abandoned?

Amanda...

I know one thing that everyone is forgetting but is coming back, and should be a bit of fun... "Adventures of Explosion Dude" ... it is still in production and well, to be honest, it's nearly done :)... that's what months of quiet solitude do :D ... but yeah be on the look out for it, save some space on your drive to d/l and Induce it... I hope you'll all feel it's worth it :\...

Amanda the Witch's Apprentice.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that just a prettier sfcave? Sfcave is a good game all right, but it's like Tetris, if you understand my meaning.

SmashDC is pretty cool, I'd say that's the homebrew I like the best - largely cause I'm a huge fan of Super Smash TV/Robotron.

Adventures of Explosion Dude is the Bomberman type game, right? I'm looking forward to that one, but the only other homebrew game I've played is Cool Herders on the demo. It was quite cool. I wasn't looking forward to it though because I didn't know they were trying to complete.
