The highlight for me was DreamSNES - both the first version - the first time I saw a SNES game on my Dreamcast was simply amazing, even though it wasn't running full speed, and the latest version - full speed SNES emulation (or near to it) simply cannot be beaten
Smash DC and DreamInducer also need a mention, the former giving me and my friends hours of fun, and the latter saving me many CDs.
May the DCEmulation scene carry on and move from strength to strength!

Well, in the 2 years of the DCemu scene, I've become 2 years older. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense... I've become wiser now that I've been here for a while. I learned how to burn homebrew, I learned how to love homebrew... I think the highlight of the DCemu scene was when the DSNES team actually got SNES emulation working. Man, I'll never forget that time.

Lots of things, some good, some bad, but it's never been boring that's for sure.WRAGGSTER wrote:Whats happened for you in these 2 years?
NesterDC & Smeg, it's been great playing those cool 8-bit classics on a big screen TV again.WRAGGSTER wrote:whats been the highlight of the Dreamcast Emulation and Homebrew scene?

Getting emulators on a home console was the reason why i bought a dreamcast, and if it wasn't for dcemulation, i wouldn't have got any emulators since it is the first and only site i look at for dreamcast emulation news. All the other sites are s.hit cause they post useless information, but dcemulation gives dreamcast users the most immprotant news and stuff.
Thanks guys for a great 2 years! keep up the good work! =)

Highlights for me was DreamSNES, NesterDC, and Gypplay. I was so amazed when I could play SNES and NES, and videos on my DC, I thought it was a dream. In 4 years, the DC scene will be running strong, and it will bring A LOT of people, good memories from the past, happiness, and fun.
The people of the land were overjoyed at the gift God gave them, and they rejoiced and praised God, and chanted "DreamSNES rules, DreamSNES rules!"

The highlight of DC emulation I think is the near perfection of Nester. I only say NEAR perfection because I still cannot play Bad News Baseball, and it was one of my favorites growing up. Other than that it IS perfect. Anyway, Nester gave me uncountable hours of fun, also SMEG and DreamSNES. But do any of you remember a coder named Sin? It was his SNES emu called Sintendo that turned me on to DC emulation, so thank you for your work Sin. After seeing that emulation was possible, the searching I did for more information brought me here, to the best source of news and entertainment I know of. Besides a few fishing websites, this is the only website I check daily, and I thank you for the fun.

I've only been in the scene for 1 year but I can't wait for
turbo cd / scd support for Dream engine! The snes Castlevania's
don't have nuthin on Drac-x for the PCE. The most exciting time for me
was the release of a promising PCE emulator. I love my Turbo Grafx,
but the cord is only 3 feet long and you need a adapter for 2 players. Can't wait to play it on DC! Y's, Shadow of the Beast,Loom,Valis.....
The past two years have been grand for the DC scene.
Just you wait for the future... Imagine 2 years from now. The bliss!
I predict full speed:
Snes(of course!)
PSX
Mame(at least all cps1)
PCE (all the cd formats w/SGX)
Gen(with cd support)
neo-geo cd(someone will do it!)
It's all wishfull thinking...

Hmm for me all it's been is hell from the so called respected (some not all). I've been pissed on, kicked around, threatened if i don't resign from certain sites, prank called from sceners (*coughemucamphellwebmastercough*), lied about.
"What a wonderful 2 years" , but nothing is stopping me.
0.o now don't tell me that wasn't a highlight, it certainly is.
Of course the major highlight is having a homebrew scene at all, can be difficult at times though with people hanging off your ass hairs.

If you think typing 'make' is hard, forget coding.
If you can't figure out the commands to DC-Tool, forget coding.
If you think coding is as easy as typing printf("Hello World\n"); , shoot yourself.

I'm not gonna lie and say I was here from the start like many will do or already have done but I defidently been here about a year and a half so I only missed out on 6 months of DCEmu action.
Anyway, I think the highlight for me is probably just NesterDC. I remember that time it had like a daily release, god I miss those days. I also remember that 3DO emu that was fake (I think), I was REALLY looking foward to that emu too.

The biggest difference for me is my extreme growth of computer knowledge.
Up until 2000, the computer I was using had 8 MB of RAM, 400MB hard drive space, and a 60MHz Pentium, running Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. The hard drive went bad, and we were forced to buy a new computer because of my dad's business.
I had known a lot about stuff with Windows 3.11, I understood DOS, etc. However, moving onto the 'new generation' Win32 Windows changed me, because I went from knowing everything about Win3.11/DOS to know jack shit about WinME. My friend told me about emulators one day, I told him you can't run SNES games on a PC, and he told me that you can with a loader called an 'emulator'. I went to the site he told me, and I was amazed. According to the site, ROMs were legal as long as you used them for personal use, so that was enough for me. I went ROM and emu hunting. I played the Dreamcast when my cousin first got one, but I was a Sega hater (old feelings from Nintendo vs. Sega in the 16 bit days). Deep down I really liked the console, just I hid it because I hated Sega.
While ROM hunting I decided to look for a Dreamcast emulator and Dreamcast ROMs. While looking for this stuff, I found the DreamSNES site. I was amazed. I tried going through all the tutorials, which were for Linux, and I simply could not get them to work (I was on Windows, duh, lol).
At the DreamSNES site, I saw a link to DCEmu. I lurked around the site for a month or two, not knowing what a forum was, I clicked on the forum link. Wow! A community. I looked around, and saw someones avatar was porn, and no one was saying anything about it. So I left, because I wouldn't be able to stay around with my mom around and these people having porn avatars.
I lurked around some more. I had downloaded SegaGen before, but couldn't get it to work. When it was taken off the site, 007 said people could talk about if for 4 days. I posted in the thread "Ha ha I still have SegaGen etc. etc." and I needed help on using it, so I asked in the forums and recieved help from DiscoStu55555. At this point, I didn't even know why it was illegal.
I kept posting for a while, then I just became hooked and posted forever.
Reading over posts and lurking in the IRC room eventually helped me learn more about computers, etc. In the beginning, I had no knowledge about computing, now, I know a whole damn lot. I think that's the highlight of the DC scene for me. Knowledge.
(whoa big post)

I think the whole 2 years has only be highlights. For me it don't count if there is a new Spectrum emulator or a new PSX emu is out. It is all so great playing old and new games on the DC. When I came across this site (about Januari 2001), I even didn't own a DC. I was just curious about emulation on a console, getting tired "playing" roms on the PC. It was the main reason for me to buy one.
So I want to congratulate DC Emulation with it's 2 years of existence, live long and prosper!
