For real this time?
Just noticed over at PSXFanatics some news of a PSX emulator based on PCSX coming to the Dreamcast.
This could be exciting news...

I can already suggust one thing. Use the same tile layer that Dreamsnes use's. See those screenshots wherent full screen and the tile layer dreamsnes use's can be used to give fullscreen without any lose of speed.
Also I would use SH4 assembly with dramatic recomplying.

for the emulator I've been waiting 2 years for.
Thanks to Reaper2k2 also for showing interest into WSC emulation.

Yeah, "dramatic recomplying" is great! sarcasimclessoulis wrote:Also I would use SH4 assembly with dramatic recomplying.

Yes, I think you have good work done to. But I rather you be there competion because competion brings out the best in quality.ssj4goku128 wrote:Mark Grilenkov?? I really haven't heard of him. If someone can get me his email address, I might just want to lend him a hand at implementing some of the GTE opcodes.

THE HELL WITH competition, if a Team of Pros worked on the project we'd be getting a great psx emulator that would run at great speeds.
looks like they already got a bunch of games running at "slow" speeds but once he writes the plugin for powerVR it would run much smoother.
And don't reply and say : "DreamSnes isn't full speed, no way this emulator would run at good speed"

I wanna see tile layer impemented soon as in like with a week.
BTW are they gonna use 640x480 resolution? If so they can again speed by 50% scanlines on atv which wouldnt be noticable if they have interpolation.

Dude clessoulis you are <edited>
First, you suggest a mix of assembly and "dramatic recomplying".
If you coded a *dynamically recompiling* cpu core, you would code it in C, and it would emit machine language.
Second, what is this tile layer crap you are talking about?
If you mean, to stretch the screen up, there is no reason to do that now with the software rendering GPU. When he finishes a PVR renderer, the stretching to the DC's screen proportions will be taken care of (to 640x480 I assume, to accomodate all the weird res PSX games like the low res 320x240 games and the higher res 512x240 and other similar ones).
"I wanna see tile layer impemented soon as in like with a week."
<big pointless flame removed>
I wish the best of luck to this guy. If he's already started a recompiler, I know he won't need it too much, because he actually knows what he's doing, unlike some of the other people.

IMO, crt0 needs to cool down when someone does something stupid and he gets angry. Flaming a person doesn't do anything for the community and especially if you're a respected devver, it just makes you look immature. I'm not trying to start a fight here, but if everyone acts neutral and doesn't flame people the forums would be a better place.
