Mario in Nifty Lifty

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Mario in Nifty Lifty

Post by DCDayDreamer » Fri Jun 09, 2017 3:45 am

After digging through the archives here's another small release from DC Evolution, once again it's a game created with Fenix for GP2X and now adapted for the Dreamcast.

The objective of the game is to assist the character Mario with reaching the exit situated at the top floor of the playing field. Starting at ground level, your character must move across each floor and reach an arrow, your character will then automatically move up to the next floor when reaching the arrow. In each level there are a number of elevators continuously moving up and down the playing field, if your character touches an elevator, you lose a life.

The game was created by Snurty and has six levels, level one of the game was made deliberately easy for his sons to play. The game starts with two elevators to avoid, and as you progress through the levels more elevators appear in the playing field, the last level is particularly tricky to complete.

This release comprises of DCEvo's version of Chui's Fenix SDL Loader (FSL) from November 2004, edited to exclude the Fenix splash screen and jingle, so Mario in Nifty Lifty loads directly. The Dreamcast Fenix port does not have support for music in the OGG format, the soundtrack for the game (three tunes with a combined total running time of under four minutes) has been excluded from the release.

D-Pad L/R - Move Mario

An archive page has already been created at DCEvo, the CDI, plainfiles, and original GP2X version of the game are available for download. Alternatively, I've attached a standard CDI of the game below.

Enjoy!
