Non-Sega VM with screen

Post by Quzar » Mon Dec 01, 2008 12:15 pm

From what I can tell it's a nexus-style VM, multiple bank AND PC interface. The screen has it's own format for lighting up 'power' and a big number to indicate bank. The PC interface is 6 pin and there is a button, apparently to switch banks, but I can't get it to do anything.

DC's bios doesn't see it and neither does MapleTest.

I had asked around prior to buying it if anyone had ever seen one like it and got no. Maybe with the pictures below it would be more apparent?

Sorry about the huge size, there should really be a forum mod to have the images auto-thumbnail and let the viewer expand them?

Glob topped chip + 4 flash chips. Nothing really special on the inside. I'll see about taking a pic or so when I get back to school though.

Very interesting. I wonder if it was meant for testing while programers were making their games?

Nope. It's non-SEGA. The screen just seems to display what memory block you're using. It only has one button to change banks, which makes it a bit harder to use than those with a slider switch.

The cable port is most likely simply for a nexus style cable.

I try to pick up weird DC stuff whenever I can find it, but I don't actually have all that much because I'm a bit of a spendthrift.

Dreamcast, it's still thinking.

Over-clocked : Dreamcast currently running at 240Mhz (switchable)

Internal VGA, extra cooling fans, disc activity LED, SD card reader done :-)
