Loud GD-ROM motor fix...
Anybody got a suggestion? Can I just oil it up or something? I mean, there's gotta be a way to quiet that thing down...

Some castor oil in your ear drums you'll find the noise will vanish. I used a bit of machine oil on the laser runners the 2 shiny rods that run between the laser. And the spiral mechanism at the back. Don't pour it all over the place. Use a cotton bud and apply it sparingly.

I remember I put some special oil on mine once, it ran nice and quiet for about a week. But all the loading in PSOv2 made it go back to its noisy self.

That is perfect for the job. In fact I cannot think of anything better.

I'm interested in know aswell. I want to quiet it down, but it's not worth it if it's only going to last for a week or two like gRiMgRaVy014 says.joSeff87 wrote:did the silicone grease work, how long did it last for, and where do i apply it?

Re: Loud GD-ROM motor fix...
use white lithium grease on the metal tracks oil is too light for this.
I noticed that the ps2 uses white lithium grease and whil the ps2 sucks t does load quietley and when i put it in the dc it was much quieter compared to my friends dc wich actually sqeeks........
just spray it on a napkin and use a cue tip to sprea it around don't use too much i already ruined a laser from using too much grease.....
