Recently my DC has started randomly resetting and giving me the "blue screen of death", which is totally annoying. After reading a few old posts I'm thinking it's due to badly packed homebrew stuff (most probably Quake stuff I was messing with) that made the laser move around more than is healthy, and now I think the laser needs to be recalibrated.
Is this definitely the problem, or could it be anything else? And, if it is the laser, how do I recalibrate exactly? I found http://www.ilovetheinternets.com/index. ... ion-trick/ which gives a pretty good physical explanation of how to do it, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to know if I've done it correctly or not. I don't want to ruin m DC, so any advice or help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: by "blue screen of death" I mean, the screen goes blank, no video or audio, but the machine is still running and reboots within one t thirty seconds, the laser is whirring along during this time, hence why I suspect it. I only just realised it was my AV screen that was blue, sorry for the confusion

Have you done any hardware modifications? If not check the orange cable from your fan to your controller port. Sounds like your system is rebooting cause it thinks your fan isn't spinning. Also one method that worked for a resetting DC was cleaning the contact pins on the power supply, the six pins that pertrude from the motherboard. Hope some of this works for you. Post your results and I'm sure one of us here will be able to help out.

Hi, I tried both of these things, and the DC is working perfectly! Thanks for your help! I can't be sure of just what fixed it, but the inside of the DC was caked with so much dust that it was probably just the cleanup that fixed it, although it's hard to know. Thanks again!miggi03 wrote:Have you done any hardware modifications? If not check the orange cable from your fan to your controller port.
