Yes, but 10 ohms works well. Is there a place to get 5 ohm resistors? That would help a lot.semicolo wrote:for the last time f1 isn't a 10 ohms resistor, if you measure a non blown f1 it's near 0ohms, using a 10ohms one won't power peripherals correctly because of its voltage drop (and if you jump f1 you get the risk to blow something since there's no more protection).
Where can I buy f1 resistors?

10 ohms works. Not everything might work properly though (lots of peripherials, maybe ssome VMU screens might be a bit dimmer). Like I said, I have a DC with a 10 ohm resistor in it to replace the f1 and it works fine. a lot of other people have done the same thing, so there isn't anything to worry about.
Be careful with the cables. You might have to lift one side then the other and so on until you can get the ribbon cable off and the fan connector you have to be especially careful. I suuges using a small flathead screwdriver to help you at the start, that's what I do.

What I implied earlier, is that the resistor is not good protection. I didn't say it wouldn't work. As others have said, it won't "blow" to protect your DC like a fuse would.Crazy Caboose wrote:10 ohms works. I had a DC that was running like that for 2 years, with no problems. Finally died cause for a modding failure.fastbreak198 wrote:Twisting the f1 resistor until the the two wires cross will work, but it's supposed to be really risky. I had to do it with some tweezers. So far the DC is working well.gRiMgRaVy014 wrote:Wait you twisted it? How did you do that?

Aye, I might have been exagerating a bit earlier. Maybe because I'm a bit paranoid about stuff.LyingWake wrote:I had a DC that was running like that for 2 years, with no problems.
