Help with a Sega 32x

Post by goldberg28115 »

I bought a sega 32x about a year or two ago and decided to pull it out of the closet and I remember when I first tried it out, every game that I tried in it would lock up after a few seconds. Does anyone have any advise on how to fix this.

i think one of the first things to check is that the ground pins or whatever those metal clamps on the sides are aren't rusty, as well as the contacts they touch.

The metal clamps are in and they are not dirty at all. I got the game shadow squadron to work for about 5 minutes and it froze up and can't get it to work again.

Check this site out, and follow the steps. Also, are you using a model I or II Genesis?

That worked. I re-seated the cables inside the 32x and cleaned the contacts and it works fine.

At the time, it was pretty impressive. You should try Metal Head, it had adjustable camera angles and strafing, etc. Very cool. Probably the best game for the system (and most expensive) is Knuckles Chaotix. There was also a pretty good port of Doom for the system, felt and looked much like the original.
