yea, he made that after other's clamored over the fact that he had not released the sourcecode to his supposed 'proprietary' sdl port. he promised source release and it simply has never happened.

Are you obligated to release the code if you use SDL?

Yes, he is. If he required to release the source code if he made modifications to it and wants to release a program using it. He hasn't cared in the past until forced to though, so odds are he won't care now.

Quzar is correct. To clarify though, you don't need to release the sourcecode of your own program if you use SDL.

Well, if it isn't ready for release, then why should he distribute the code? I know we are all anxious to see what we can do with it, but give him a chance to get it right.

I know nothing about this whole situation. ;) If he hasn't released any software that uses that version of SDL then there's no need to release it ofcourse.

This SDL version looks very interesting, especially the "Integrated OpenGL" bit. Does that mean easy porting of games which uses both SDL and OpenGL?

According to him all of his SDL projects use this 'dma sdl' which is why they are 'so fast'.

Completely and totally inappropriate. The action of not releasing the code was in violation with its license, and therefor, illegal. There is no "hating" involved.

Since we have another topic to discuss the released code in, there is no more need for this.
