A bios with dc-load-serial

Post by Tounepi »

Hi All,

I'm looking for a bios that only runs dc-serial.

I was interested by the dreamboot bios but it doesn't work for me, my dreamcast gets frozen on "executing..." when I download a program.
I don't know why. :/
Finally with the dreamboot bios, we still have to select dc-load-serial from a menu, which I don't want. It is not practical.

So either you know a "dc-load-serial bios", or I'll have to make it based on "Dreamboot".

Would anyone be interested?

Dreamboot is built from Dreamshell but if there is another way to build a bios I want to know it !

Dreamboot sources : https://github.com/Cpasjuste/dreamboot

Thanks !

It doesnt look like you have to select dc-load-serial from a menu. From your link: [If "A" + "B" is pressed during boot up, dc-load-serial will be launched]

If you have a GDEMU you can just put the dcload-serial binary in the 01 folder. Maybe Dreamboot contains a bad dc-load-serial binary? I attached a working .CDI image of dc-load-serial that I use.

Both work.
It seems Dreamboot contains a bad dc-load binary, you're right.
Thanks for your cdi image, I already use a cd to run dc-load, my gdemu is comming !

I compiled kos for Dreamshell this weekend, I haven't given up on the idea of making a custom bios.
If you have any documentation about this, I'm interested!

Yea, I figured the bad binary was the case. I experienced that issue as well. I think I may have even fixed it. Anyway, I have no documentation for making a custom BIOs sorry :(

I did it with the Dreamshell SDK and the sources from the cpasjuste's bios.
My dreamcast runs directly dc-load serial without the spiral or other stuff.
Nice !

Would you be willing to share directions or patches for that?
