I don't know why people are so hyped for KOF Its the same boring game,This time with better gfx! Will that better the same old unbalanced fighting system that SNK\Playmore is known for? Hell no. I am not impressed. Just my opinion though and I'm happy with it.
Have you played dreamcast today?

Though I'm not a KOF fan, I must admit, I want to give it a try. I know I'd only be playing it for the art, but I have to see it in action.

I'd never find an arcade version even if I was still in the UK and I know I wouldn't get my money's worth buying a console version. Goes for most beat-em-ups sadly.

Why's that ? We don't have arcades in Germany. They're for adults only, and thus only few exist and only in bigger towns, and even then they're mostly focusing on money gambling, not video games.

I've been a bmup fan since Streets of Rage and SF2, so I've always had a set of arcade sticks for my main consoles (MD, SAT, DC).

EDIT: KOF XII looks fantastic. That's how SEGA should treat their old franchises.

I never liked SNKs beat em ups, they were always so unbalanced, looked great, but not much fun to play. Super Sidekicks however was pretty awesome though from what I remember as a kid.

I think thats why it attracted the fanbase it had. Made it harder to be good at it.
The sprites are looking better as the years go by. Doubt I'll give it a go.

The only thing that really thing that has me excited is seeing beautiful high def 2D games like this.

One of the things I never liked about KOF how they made most of the male outfits overly flamboyant especially now with the bell bottoms and Iori's new outfit.
<WiLdSeXyPrInCeSs> i luv guyz where would they be wifout us gals???

But of course the nearly naked females that are in practically every fighting game are perfectly acceptable, right?

Think I would prefer better animation over high res sprites, but its certainly better than what SNK had us used to.

I agree. This is how I feel about Street Fighter 4 as well. It looks like fun, but not $60 USD worth of fun.

I was never really big on KOF, but I would probably get XII simply because I really like that hires 2D style. Street Fighter IV is one of the only games I'm actually looking forward to playing (and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, Final Fantasy XIII). The only thing getting in my way right now is the 360's awfully shit-tastic d-pad. I know there's arcade controllers and those Saturn-esque controllers from Capcom, but I don't really want to fork out $60 + more for some accessory I really wouldn't use on anything else. :(
