Emulation on NDS

Post by Orange_Ribbon »

Anyone know a good link for starting, and what I have to buy? I just got a job as a security guard, and half my shift the place isn't even open so I have dead time to kill. I have an idea on how emulation on the GBA works but I was wondering about the DS for SNES RPGs and Gen games.

There are several different devices on www.dealextreme.com that will work fine. Just about any Slot 1 device is fine; simply get the appropriate version of DS Organizer for your card, and use that as a launcher. It will dynamically "patch" (as in: append in RAM upon launching) whatever program you're running with the appropriate FAT file system drivers.

I hate to say it, but probably the best place to find emulators and programs is BIzarro DCEmu. You can also check out www.ndshb.com . I haven't messed with it much recently, but as I recall, NES, SNES, TG-16, SMS/GG, GB/GBC were all emulated quite well, and there was a passable Genesis emulator. There's also a wealth of homebrew games and other fun applications, such as NitroTracker. DS Organizer also actually maintains a partial database of known homebrew, and lets you download programs directly onto the device (like the Wii Homebrew Browser).

If you poke around Gamestop and/or GameCrazy (the game store inside Hollywood Video), you can often find an original-model DS for $70-$80.

Hell EB AU were selling the original ones for $99 at one stage, so I'm sure you could get them pretty cheap in the states.

I was surprised to be honest. And it made me wonder how much they'd be in the US, what with our high prices on gaming consoles/games/accessories.

I love my R4 card, I would not have bought a DS without it. I wish there were more ports/homebrew for the DS though......

Last I saw SNES emulation was pretty iffy on the DS.

Well I "ordered" something but his site had an error on it so it came up free. He might cancel the ordered though.

I did a ton of research before buying, and I'm really happy with my EDGE card:

I just put JenesisNDS or whatever the genesis emu is called and it runs amazingly. a few graphical glitches here and there, but fullspeed. at least on sonic three which is what i played on it. Runs much better than SNES emulation.
