Yakuza 2 (Ryu ga gotoku 2) coming to US

Post by Joestar »

about fucking time

http://uk.ps2.ign.com/articles/821/821915p1.html

The first game was a flop in america, and now that we've entered a new generation of consoles, this has come as a very surprising announcement by sega.

Not that I'm complaining, because I loved the first game. It was the closest thing to a shenmue sequel that we will ever get.

I've never played the first one, is it similar to Shenmue? Is it F.R.E.E

There is a lot more action in Yakuza, but there are many elements that are similiar to Shenmue. For instance the city exploration. The place is filled with people, and plenty of distractions to visit/do such as shops; restaurants; a batting cage and even a Club Sega arcade (you can't play any of the arcade machines though, only a UFO catcher ). Even some parts of the story would remind you of Shenmue, such as an underground fighting scene, and some old random guy teaching the main character new martial arts.

I can't say that all Shemue lovers will like the game, it does have its flaws. But it's worth checking out, as well as 2 sequels it was popular enough to spawn a movie in Japan.

I love Shenmue and always wanted to play this game. Hopefully I can find the first one for cheap.

Shenmue and Yakuza have nothing in common.

They are made by diffrent studios.

It's like saying any game which has a FREE (full reactive eyes entertainment) feel is a sequel to Shenmue!

I hope the fact that they are "made by different studios" isn't one of your arguments as to why they're nothing alike. Regardless of what studios make certain games, they can still feel similar to each other but be different.

I honestly have no idea what Yakuza is like as I've never played it.

Okay, laugh it off.

First of all I fixed the FREE mistake, my bad.

Secondly, I was unaware of the same engine & both games look and feel diffrent atleast they do to me.

Look at it this way Yakuza is a Beat Em Up with mordern Adventure game elements. Shenmue is a Super detailed RPG known as FREE, am I correct.

Shenmue takes place in a very realistic Japan, with extremely detailed enviorments which Ryo could interact with. Yakuza on the other hand, takes place in Japan but it is not half as detailed as Shenmue or interactive, I don't know both games feel very very diffrent to me.

Its like saying Resident Evil 4 is like Shenmue because it has Quick Time Events (which Yakuza didn't).
