Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
Enchanted Arms (360) - $25
After the reviews I read about the game, I expected the worst, but this game is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. However, it plays like an 'RPG for dummies' most of the time. Between the save anywhere feature, the full HP and MP restore after every battle, the auto-battle feature that lets the game choose the best moves and execute them automatically, I feel like it is impossible to lose. But of course, even if I did lose, the game has a retry function that let's you start the battle over, so in reality it really is impossible to lose.
Oh, and the tutorials are equally as bad. The main character has to be the dumbest person in RPG history. Early in the game I came across a platform that moved horizontally across a chasm. The main character asked his partner what to do. So the partner went into a full blown explanation on how to work the platform. It took 6 text boxes for him to essentially say step on it and press 'A'. So I ride the platform, get to the other side, and there is another platform that takes me up. I move towards it, but then cutscene again where my main character gets all confused because this platform moves vertically instead. And I get the whole 6 screen tutorial explained to me again. And again when I come across a red switch. And again when I come across a blue switch. And item box. And item crate...
The first two hours of the game is totally absorbed by lenghty conversations telling me to press A in front of everything. I'm hoping that after the initial dungeon, the game quits hitting me over the head with tutorials and I can actually enjoy the game.

Well I don't have it in my posession yet, I just bought it. Apparently it's been sent, but I didn't think it got released til tomorrow. Anyway it's been sent by superfast courier because I'm an impatient bastard. Should be here Monday/Tuesday.Yonke wrote:details please!!!!!!!!BoneyCork wrote:Japanese version of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
I wouldn't usually bother with story-driven Japanese games because I don't think my language is up to the standard, but Zelda usually has a pretty simple plot plus all the kanji are defined for the kiddies. I shouldbe fairly OK.

Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
Whoo. Zelda: PH arrived. Been at it a good few hours now and just got into the 2nd dungeon.
First impressions:
The Good:
- The controls are great. I wasn't sure at first and it's easy to find yourself obscuring the screen with your hand, plus it's kinda difficult to find a comfortable long-term way of playing. But once you start getting weapons (like the boomerang) and see how many things have been adapted for the touch-screen it's so much more fun than the old targetting system.
- Press the UP button and you get a memo pad to scrawl on, this is great for remembering stuff and working out certain puzzles. A really nice feature.
- The game is a lot quicker to get into than Twilight Princess. I know I'm not the only one who thought TP was a bit slow to get started, but things couldn't be more diffferent here. You get into the thick of things really soon after you start.
- The dungeon designs, puzzles, visuals, music etc. all rock too as you would expect.
The Bad
- The sailing is back. If you didn't like it then, you won't like it now. In fact in some ways it is worse. Rather than controlling the boat, you draw a route on a map beforehand, then just sit there as you travel along it. You pick up the cannon and stuff later which makes things more interesting, plus the whole map seems smaller, but there's still some open sea to cover.
- The sword combat is a bit meh. The difference between moving, rolling and all your different slashes is very minimal, and it is really easy to make a move you didnt want to.
That's about it for now But so far this is easly one of the best games I've played on DS. If you have a DS, buy it. If you don't have a DS, buy one for this game.

Considering that dkc2 was the best, imo, I'd say that was a decent deal. dkc was too short and laughably easy, while dk64 was an utter turd.BlueCrab wrote:Donkey Kong Country (SNES)

Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
My brother and I hit up EB Games at the mall today. Today is his birthday so he got to spend some of his bday money.
I got:
Quake 4 (Xbox 360) $19.99
Phantom Dust (Xbox) $4.99
Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge (Xbox) $3.99
and my brother got these:
Tron 2.0: Killer App (Xbox) $7.99
Dead To Rights (Xbox) $2.99
Hunter: The Reckoning (Xbox) $4.99
Mechassault (Xbox) $2.99
a light gun (Xbox) $9.99 (come to find there's only three light gun games on Xbox anyway)
I was hoping to borrow Mechassault from him and try it online, but only the second one is BC on 360. WTF?
