Emulator Ootake 1.15

system PC - Windows

PC-Engine emu, news:
* In the last stage of "Image Fight", the character came to be displayed correctly.
* As a result, all the games of "Hu-Card" might operate without trouble at the report from users.
* Operation speed & timing of CPU has been elaborately adjusted. In "Kisou Louga", the gap of the voice was solved. I think that the operation timing improved in other games, too.
* Processing related to the memory access was considerably sped up. I think that processing lightened in some measure of a personal computer environment so not fast.
* When "Gradius","Salamander" or "Parodius" is started, the sound automatically becomes a stereo mode. Tone quality is considerably good!
* Additionally, a detailed part has been improved and corrected.

Added a progress bar when auditing multiple games. Speed improvements by 300%!!!!!

emulator AGEMAME 0.117

system PC - Windows

fruit machine emu, news:
SAGEMAME is dead, just use regular SDLMAME, and then extract AGEMAME over the top.

AGEMAME32 will return if things work out, but the new GUI (0.117u1 onwards) will be more than enough for some.

Numbering scheme changed for this release, this version equivalent to 0.45.

This release is now designed as a source overlay for MAME versions of equivalent version number. This should allow a cleaner upgrade path in future, and reduces a number of headaches due top supporting multiple versions. You must now compile using TARGET=age

i.e "mingw32-make TARGET=age" rather than "mingw32-make -f makefile.age"

Scorpion 4 support has been removed as it never did anything, so The Game and Poleposition are no longer supported. This may be returned to in the future.

emulator Uae4all Gp2x 0.7.1

system GP2X

Amiga emu, news:
* "Emu Bias" option has been split into two separate options:
o "System clock", which allows you to underclock the whole system to improve emulation performance, but breaks sound pitch.
o "Sync threshold", which allows to reduce amount of synchronization between 68k and other chips to also improve performance.
Set both to 100 for best compatibility.
* Added command line option support (see readme).
* PAL/NTSC switch added (must reset game to take effect).
* Sound and frameskipping code adjusted to work in NTSC mode.
* Faked sound option fixed to emulate sound without outputting it.
* Sound breaking problem was hopefully fixed.
* Framelimiter fixed.
* Added trace mode support to Cyclone. Some timing hacks added to make Project-X work.
* GnoStiC submitted a few more optimizations.

Emu bias was split just because it was doing 2 separate things, one of which was breaking sound pitch. So those who can't tolerate wrong pitch now can still adjust something.
This is how "emu bias" maps to the new settings:

emu bias -> system clock | sync threshold
X O O O O -> 100 | 50
O X O O O -> 83 | 100
O O X O O -> 83 | 50
O O O X O -> 75 | 50
O O O O X -> 75 | 25

Note that 100 | 100 wasn't available - this might allow some more games to boot.
Also note that "system clock 100" setting will cause noticeable performance hit. Don't expect this version to be faster then previous one.

I hope all Amiga fans will be happy now and I can move to other projects. Actually I don't have any ideas how to improve the performance of this emulator anyway at this time. As for additional features (keyboard support, etc.), I think critical can take it from here. Have fun!

emulator Unofficial RIN GB/GBC 1.32 RM

system PSP

GB/GB emu, news:
Davex's RIN mod adds two new features: Rewind and Mirror. The former is a nifty little Sands of Time-like feature that lets players warp back in time without using save states. By default, the rewind button is mapped to the PlayStation Portable's right trigger button, but according to davex, this can be changed in the Key Config menu.

The second feature, Mirror, horizontally inverts all game graphics. For example, if you're playing a platformer that's played from left to right, the Mirror feature will let you play it from right to left instead. Switching between normal and Mirror modes can be done through the Screen Size menu.

Davex's RIN mod is for version 1.21 of the RIN GB/GBC emulator. Please read the readme file included in the download before you install it.

***NEWS UPDATE***

No,Hawq is far from dead :)
Proof: the regularly updated news section at EmuHQ
I wonder why he doesn't post here anymore.
It could be that managing two news threads is too hard and time consuming for the poor ol' bird.

While Hawq is away here's a quick news update to keep this thread alive ;)

=== WIP: PCSX2 WIP
System: PC (Win32/x64/Linux)

Work on PCSX2 continues even in these hot summer days.
As a teaser for the upcoming release,there are 3 new WIP videos available for download at the PCSX2 homepage (via BitTorrent). Just marvel at the perfect sound emulation and bug-free graphics of these two PS2 games.
So,what are you waiting for? Start your favorite BT client and do the suckage ;)

More info and download: PCSX2

=== Emu News: R. Belmont puts ZiNc on hiatus

"No new ZiNc as long as MAME Plus Plus exists.When I see this pest dead,then I'll continue updating ZiNc."

That's some really bad news for ZiNc.
On the other hand,it would be equally bad if MAME Plus Plus dies.
(as the ICC build of this emu is currently the fastest precompiled version of MAME you can get).Just try one of the ICC-compiled builds of PlusPlus and see the difference.

=== Emulator(s): MAME 0.118u1 Win32 builds (Plain,32,Plus and Plus Plus GCC),AGEMAME32
System: PC (Win32)

of these two modes. The internal tilemap handling code has been
reorganized and simplified in a number of cases. For most games, this
change is transparent (har har), apart from the change in tilemap
type values. Several concepts within the tilemap system now have
different terminology for clarity and to remove some ambiguous naming
('priority', for example, was overloaded). A small tutorial and better
documentation is now present at the top of tilemap.h and provides
more details of the changes. [Aaron Giles]

=== Emulator: bsnes v0.022
System PC (Win32/Linux [src])

This is a bit old,but since it wasn't posted here before it is news to all of you :)

"Today marks a milestone for bsnes, and possibly for SNES emulation as a whole. With this new release, bsnes' compatibility for games (excluding those with special chips) has now reached 100.0%, with zero game-specific hacks. With every last commercially released game tested by both FitzRoy and tetsuo55 for at least five minutes each, all known bugs have been resolved."

=== WIP: NullDC WIP info

Work on nullDC (Dreamcast emulator) has been steadily progressing recently.

Modifier Volumes (modvols) have been implemented, giving many games shadows which where originally missing. Notable games effected include Dead or Alive 2 (LE), Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure 2, yes folks, King Boom Boo now shows up when he's a shadow!

Clipping has been worked on to, Ikaruga now has its borders, Sonic Adventure 2's split screen mode now works correctly (along with many other split screen games), Dynamite Cop's portaits screen displays the background, rather than a mess of portraits and Soul Calibur's VS screens now behave correctly.

Last but not least, Render to Texture (rtt) has had some work done to it! Silent Scope now displays cross hairs whilst playing, Crazy taxi's pause menu is no longer just a black screen, and various effects used in Dead or Alive 2 (LE) are now rendered!

Please note this is still on going WIP, and none of the above features are complete yet.

=== Emulator: MAME 0.118u2
System: PC (Win)

Yet another release of MAME is out.This one brings an interesting new feature aside from the usual bugfixes:

Changelog:
-------------

NOTE: If you are experiencing sound stuttering due to not being able

to run your display at >60Hz, please give the -speed option a try.

You should be able to run MAME at a small emulation speed decrease

in order to get the game under your monitor's refresh rate.

MAMETesters Bugs Fixed

----------------------

boogwing0118yel [Aaron Giles]

starblad0113u3red [Atari Ace]

mgakuen0106u1red [Atari Ace]

Source Changes

--------------

Fixed recently introduced regression in nemesis driver. [Atari Ace]

Improved fixes to the chdman CD creating code. [smf]

Updated amspdwy.c driver to fix the DIP Switches for 'amspdwy' which

are slightly different than the ones for 'amspdwya' which were

correct. [stephh]

Fixed HP Saturn CPU core disassembler. [Wilbert Pol]

Fixed clock speed and colors in Trivia Genius. [Lord Nightmare]

Cleaned up Taito drivers to use common defines for common input

ports across drivers. [stephh]

Removed redundant hard-coded definitions for Pole Position pedals.

[Alex Jackson]

Improved DIP switches for bombjack. [stephh]

Changed default layouts in BFM games to hide VFD by default since it

is not visible. [James Wallace]

Further improvements to the TMS5220 emulation and more unification

with the TMS5110 core. [Lord Nightmare]

Changed INI parsing to look for source file INIs in /source

first. This is to disambiguate INIs where the game name matches the

source filename. If the INI file is not found in /source,

then it is looked for in the as before. [Aaron Giles]

Merged Raiden memory maps. Cleaned up the COP emulation code in

Raiden 2. [Aaron Giles]

Added new experimental control for overall emulation speed. This

lets you specify how fast/slow the gameplay should happen relative to

the original. -speed 1.0 means run at normal speed. -speed 2.0 means

run at 2x speed. -speed 0.5 means run at half speed. Note that the

sound pitch is shifted as a result. If you are running early Namco

games that normally run at 60.60Hz, you can run them at -speed 0.99

and it should run at under 60Hz, which should prevent sound stuttering

if your monitor is not capable of greater than 60Hz refresh rates.

If this turns out to be useful, future versions may support a

-speed refresh parameter that automatically tweaks the speed to keep

you under your monitor's refresh rate. [Aaron Giles]

Fixed disassembly of V30 bit instructions. [Aaron Giles]

New games added or promoted from NOT_WORKING status

---------------------------------------------------

El Grande - 5 Card Draw [Roberto Fresca]

New clones added

----------------

Kickman [Aaron Giles]

Trivia ? Whiz (Edition 3 - Vertical) [Pierpaolo Prazzoli]

OK,from now on I will only post news and stuff that's not already covered by EmuHQ.
I recommend going to EmuHQ for the rest.
Just a little warning: EmuHQ keeps no history (summary) of the news for the last 2 months,so you have to check it frequently if you don't want to miss an article :)

Also,I changed the formatting a bit for better look and readability.I hope you find the new one better.
