There is a document explaining how to convert into the PS2s VCD MPEG format, but there's no player yet. Your best bet would be to backup a PS2 DVD game with a MPEG intro and replace it with your VCD MPEG. But then you'de need a chip and backups are illegal so you'd be a bit stuck that way.

If you need a DVD burner you might as well burn your VCD as a Low-Res DVD and fit a lot more on.

If you're talking about legit pressed VCD's then they should just run as any other disc would, if you're not talking about legit VCD's then you wont get much help here, all forms of warez are hated.

We aint discussing warez.
I have a legit VCD (Dragonball Z brolly movie), and I used my friends DVD Burner to convert it so I could watch it on a PS2 along with a few other VCD's that he had on the same disc.

You cant just run VCD's on a PS2 straight off because sony decided to block them out

So, if i got a dvd burner, I could convert The Star Wars Trilogy (original vcd's) to some format on a dvd and play it on my ps2? Do I need a mod-chip? Is it hard to do?

Any DVD-R plays in over 99% of DVD players - including those converted from different formats (DivX, VCD, SVCD, XVCD, MPEG1/2...)

The PS2 doesnt need a modchip to play DVD-R's, you just put it in, and it'll play just like it should.
You can also add menu's to your DVD's, so you can easily select which film you want to watch if you put more than one on.

If Sony have blocked VCD's then they've made a small cock up as all DVD players are meant to be able to run them, then again this is the company that gave you a green RGB screen for watching DVD's so it's possible I suppose, haven't tried a VCD in my PS2 yet maybe later got episode 1 of Monkey to watch.

I've got a couple of other DVD players that don't play VCDs.

I use a RGB Scart lead on my PS2, AND I still get full color and perfect RGB picture :p

I got DVD Region X, which came free with a magazine a while back, and stops the green screen, and DVD's look GREAT!

I heared that there is a mod what you can do inside the console to stop it aswell, 1 wire across 2 points...

Did you try any pressed VCD's?

What is this RGB green screen you guys are talking about? Maybe it is to try to prevent dvd to vcr dubbing?

When you use a RGB Scart cable (Europe only) to watch DVD's on the ps2, you can see the film, but its all got a green tone over the whole screen.
If you get a DVD-Region X, it gets rid of it, giving you a lot better picture.
However, Macrovision is still present with DVD's even with DVD Region X (When trying to copy to VHS, it glows, darkens, glows, darkens...so on).

However, if you try to record DVD's to VHS while it has the green screen, the macrovision goes away...but unwatchable due to the green screen.

No, but a lot of the online DVD Player databases have said that mine won't.
