Any decent sites for PSP emulators / hacking tools?

Post by showka »

For years I've heard about all the cool hacks and emulators available for the PSP. Well I recently bought one and so far I've updated it with custom firmware and been able to store all of my games onto the memory card, which is cool.

What I'm finding sad and a bit obnoxious is how no decent sites seem to exist for these tools. By "decent site" I mean something like dcemulation.org, which focuses on the hacks and homebrew for the PSP (including emulators) rather than being filled with skeezy looking pop ups and ROM / Warez links.

Going through this experience makes me realize what a huge favor dcemulation.org continues to do for the Dreamcast fanbase and homebrew authoring community by making the focus on the perhaps gray area but still legal accomplishments of all of the geniuses who have contributed to KallistiOS and other tools and avoiding the temptation to cash in by making the site filled with piracy and click bait. As is I can't even find a legit site which talks about the programming tools for the PSP beyond some repos on github.

I'm wondering, do really good sites on this topic exist and Google is just showing me all of the garbage first, or did societal forces- and perhaps legal pressure by the always wonderful Sony- causes anyone doing "legit" sites to call it quits? Or is Google just showing me all the junk first and I need to look harder?

QJ has a pretty well-maintained repository: http://dl.qj.net/psp.html
