Humble Indie Bundle 2: get games, help charity

Post by Stormwatch »

Perhaps you guys and gals remember the first Humble Indie Bundle, that happened a few months ago: a bunch of great indie games, for the unbeatable price of whatever you want to pay.

Now, it's time for another deal. Here is the...

Humble Indie Bundle 2

Image
The famous time-manipulating puzzle platformer about a hero and a princess.
Or domestic violence. Or the atom bomb. Or something like that. You have to
play to the end to get it. Maybe.

Image
Control the deadliest war machines in this tactical action platformer
with old school sprite graphics.

Image
A brain-melting, hand-drawn, classic style point-and-click adventure
in a world of living robots.

Image
A puzzle game that's all about biology. Phagocytate the other cells
before they phagocytate you!

Image
A cartoonesque real time war strategy game. The invasion forces
have arrived, and the planet's counterattack relies on you!

But wait, what's your operating system? All of them?!

Image

No problem! All those games are available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux.

And, just like the last time, you choose how much you will pay. But don't be too tight-fisted, will ya? Gotta keep talented indie developers afloat. Indies are usually the guys who innovate and try different things. Do you want every game to be a MOH or a Madden? No, of course you don't.

Besides, you may have noticed the "help charity" bit in this thread's title. Here's the thing: once again, part of the money goes to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a civil liberties group fighting internet censorship, and Child's Play, who sends games and toys to seriously ill children in hospitals. Get games and do your boy scout good deed of the day at the same time!

So, pay up, you stingy sonovabiches! This deal is definitely worth a few bucks! Check it HERE.

Glad to see that they're doing it again. Bought the first one, and now the second one too. It seems like the second one is already off to an awesome start, with over $212,000 in sales in less than a quarter of a day.

Does this mark the release of Braid on Linux, then? I thought Jonathan Blow gave up on porting it because of audio issues. Or is it just a Wine wrapper or something like that?

Well, Wikipedia says the Linux port was introduced for this bundle, so I assume it's a full port -- but it could be a wrapper, even big developers like E.A. use those things.

This will be my third time buying Braid, and I don't care. It is one of the greatest games to come out in the last 5 years.

This suprises me. I mean, I absolutely loved it, but I can still remember how to do most of the levels. It has pretty much zero replay value.

Already had Machinarium but picked up the bundle anyway, I'd played the Braid demo on Live and always meant to pick it up, so it'll be cool to finally play it through properly

I've been wanting to try Braid but never have, so I got the bundle. I thought the first one was awesome so I definitely wanted to get the second one anyway.
It's thinking...

I've actually played through it 3 times now. After the first time through, I tried it again to get those hidden stars. Then a year later I went back to it once I had forgotten how to work the puzzles. There's just something gorgeous about the experience that completely engulfs me. But even for someone that would just play it and move on, the game is definitely worth playing.

Which is the main reason why I played the game through twice. I got to the 5th world and actually found one of the stars on my own, which prompted me to do a GameFAQ search to see what exactly the star I had just collected actually did, and of course forcing me to start all over once I beat the game. I've now gone through and acquired all of them twice, but I honestly have no idea how anyone figured out how to get some of those stars. I could only figure out 2 of them on my own.

They just came up with an extra deal. If you buy the Bundle #2 for more than the current average ($7.45 right now), you get the Bundle #1 as well! Of course, paying more than the average raises the average. Clever bastiches! :P

(if you have already bought, don't worry, they added it automatically to your download page.)

Image
The famous slime ball physics puzzle.

Image
Action and mysteries on the bottom of the sea.

Image
A game of platforming and tar.

Image
Bunnies and ultraviolence, a perfect combination.

Image
Shit-your-pants surreal horror with realistic physics.

Just as well: all of them are for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux; no DRM; Steam-activatable, if you wish.

None of these games resemble Call of Duty: Black Ops.
