Re: understanding dummy files

The Dreamcast employs a Constant Angular Velocity (CAV) read mechanism in its drive. The disc will spin at the same speed regardless of the position of the laser. As it moves from the centre of the disc to the outer edge, it is reading more data per revolution, and so you see improved loading times....

BoneyCork seems to be in the IRC channel several times a week (which is about as often as the Chinese government probably let him).

Re: Playstation 3.

Thanks for the info guys. After a bit of googling, the general consensus I see is that the divx/xvid playback is pretty good on the PS3. Another question! How much of a difference is there between an upscaled DVD, and a Blu-ray disc? I hear varying opinions on that. Some say there's no difference, ...

I've picked up 8 HD DVDs thus far and I haven't even got my HD DVD drive yet, it should be here tomorrow or Monday, providing the store actually gets them in like they said  The cheapest ones I've bought are AU$8 and the most expensive was AU$17 EzyDVD and DVDCrave are two Australian sites th...

You can now get the Toshiba HD-EP30 HD DVD player with the usual two free films (300 and Bourne Supremacy) for £49.99 at Amazon and Play , or for £69.99 you can get the same player with the following five films on top of the other two at Play: - Knocked Up - Van Helsing - Pitch Black - The Thi...

Re: The best ps2 first person shooters?

Though all available for the PC (and some for the Dreamcast), I got on quite well with all of the following:

- Max Payne
- Deus Ex
- Half-Life
- Quake III Arena
- Unreal Tournament

Plus, they're all very early releases, so they should all be cheap as chips by now.

Re: DC Homebrew

Hi Christuserloeser, Thanks for the links. Do you know if the emulator supports the 32x games as well - there are a few games that I had with the 32x that i'd love to play on my DC. Thanks. SD The emulator does not support 32X games, and almost certainly never will--the Dreamcast is not really powe...

Re: Question for the European and Australian gamers

Once the cost of postage is taken into account, including the possibility of a ridiculous amount of import duty being applied, there is little or no saving to be made, though I only really looked at a couple of Canadian sites I used to buy DVDs from--perhaps the more favourable exchange rate with th...

On a serious note, the practice of circumcision was started during a time when people did not have access to good hygiene and would get infected. Unfortunately, poor hygiene still is a problem, and many guys end up having to get circumcised as teenagers because they aren't cleaning themselves well ...

Re: XDP vs Dream Passport 3 vs Planet Web 3

Thanks for the reply. Looking at the XDP site, there hasn't been an update for 2 years, so is there going to be a new update/version? A new release with a new version of flash would help a lot. Without the source code to DreamPassport, such a significant change to the software would b impossible. W...

The magazine was never produced and distributed, and refunds should have been given to everyone who paid. An explanation for this can be found in the following thread: An open apology and admission of guilt.

Re: Toshiba Pulls the Plug on HD DVD - Ends Format War

Amazon UK are now selling the Toshiba HD-EP30 HD DVD player for £77.99, which includes 300 and The Bourne Supremacy in the box. Seems quite the bargain, but according to this review, it struggles to match the performance of the more expensive models when it comes to video processing.

Re: Toshiba Pulls the Plug on HD DVD - Ends Format War

As much as I hate Sony and have previously denied that I would buy Blu-ray products, I'm really glad this format war is finally over. Hopefully we'll start to see affordable Blu-ray writers and writable media... that's what I'm most interested in. I'm personally quite pleased with the price of Blu-...
