Haha. So Xylene didn't show up here?

I just realized I started posting here seven years ago. My God.

New frontpage looks nice, btw. Very clean. Very cool.

Re: All the Libruls Must Die

This proves how irresponsible much of the right's inflammatory rhetoric is.

Seems to me like people on the left who preach that sort of hatred are very much on the fringe... O'Reily is prime time.

I love that the police department where the photo was taken issued a statement saying they were "considering pressing charges."

Yeah, for what?

Re: Palin vs. The Horrible Evil Mean Gotcha Questions

Haha. I love all this talk about how she "just wasn't ready for prime time" in 2008 and she's gonna be a whole new candidate next time around. It just seems to me that if, by age 40, you don't know Africa is a continent then you're just never going to learn. Oh sure, you might memorize the...

Some googling brought me here.

I can't believe this place still exists... I just thought it was gone.

Hey to everyone that's here.

Re: They Might Be Giants

I don't know their music... but the Jonathan Richman penned song "Roadrunner," as performed by the briefly active Modern Lovers, supposedly put TMBG's frontman over the edge and made him certain that he was going to be a musician. M.I.A. opend her new album with a characteristically unfait...

Maybe spending time secluded in rural Virginia. Maybe going to Baltimore to stay with a lot of crazy young artists. I got a pretty nice job in this town I'm staying in... just for being smart. It starts in april. They want me there for "at least a year or two," though. So I might just look...

Re: Am I being detained?

I'm not a fan of this ever-increasing police prescence. Don't tell me things always have and will be like this. It is escalating. The first police forces were only created in the late eighteenth century amid the French Revolution, etc. This was when we first saw the phenomenon we would call "p...

Re: Modern music sucks, and these pics prove it!

This isn't about MP3 compression, this is about CDs being mastered badly. I'd call b/s on you being able to tell the difference though if those MP3s are securely ripped using the proper lame settings compared to a FLAC rip of the same CD. Virtually nobody can tell the difference, I'd assume you hav...

Re: Classic music recommendations?

This is a little before what you've asked for, but get ahold of Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music. 6 CDs of some of the best pre-war stuff around. This is the founding document of the "folk revival." If you listen to early Dylan (Gaslight tapes, etc...), most of the songs he s...

Re: VP Cheney makes strong pitch for telecom immunity

I'm amazed at how shamelessly these folks will push an agenda like theirs. Did you guys ever see Cheney's declaration of war? A lot of people say there never was one, but there was. He did it very low key at a Veteran's conference in Nashville. It's absurd. A President (read: not the VP) ought to an...
