i was thinking of getting one of them fan alarm thingees. but i couldent be bothered. maby i will get one now so if it happens again i will have time to run to the freezer and get some sausgaes , and have an indoor BBQ.

yep , it even suprised me :o , i have had a closer look , and it looks like the fan stopped , the processor overheated while its still running , creating heat and dragging more current through the other componants creating more heat , and 4 caps exploding was the final nail in the coffin

Blew up , and managed to catch fire , and i was left wondering

where the hell are the sausauges when you need em ??

luckily i have shitloads of spares so , thats ok

i think that the VGA Boxes are fine , but the problem is the connector on the DC. if the cable you are using is a normal video + stereo audio plug , than this is most likley the cause. check for dust,durt inside the connector if there is none , it must be dry joints on the plug. edit: i know i mis s...

you can run it without a fan by linking the first 2 pins on the fan conector together , but this is not recommended unless you have a alternate way to cool the thing

i havent opened my DC in a while , but on most ribbon cable connectors , there is a bit at the back that clips the cable in and moves up and down , that could of come out if you removed it incorectley. if it has , you will have to jam paper into the back of the cable to hold it in.
