Thanks for the info guys. After a bit of googling, the general consensus I see is that the divx/xvid playback is pretty good on the PS3. Another question! How much of a difference is there between an upscaled DVD, and a Blu-ray disc? I hear varying opinions on that. Some say there's no difference, ...

In OSX you can share network connections, though I don't know about Bluetooth. You can have one mac pick up the wireless signal and then share it via ethernet or firewire I believe, Or, alternatively, you can have the one mac pick up a wired ethernet connection and broadcast it wirelessly, via ether...

Do you have the same problem if your screen isn't stretched? It might be something to do with your widescreen projector.

BTW, Euro roms play better. You're kidding right? What's the tradeoff? Are they rendered as PAL or something? not much, just 10 frames a second less for the DC to render, as for 'rendered as PAL' most SNES games were localized pretty well and don't suffer from those 'bars' as much as you might thin...
