Re: New open-source handheld revealed: Pandora
Most community-based commercial projects are likely to fail. Not so much in software/games but this is hardware, and a sophiticated piece of hardware at that. I'd write this off immediately as a pipe dream. Of course, if it is ever developed you can expect me to be first in line to get it.

Re: New updates to NesterDC SE "VOTER POLL"
Frankly, I would like to write an emulator from scratch for my next project. Interesting. Any specific hardware that you have in mind ? I would like to try to emulate SNES but from what I hear it's one of the most difficult systems to emulate well. I know there are a million NES emus out there but ...

Even someone who does know hell about programming would find it near impossible. One way I could envision doing this is to reverse engineer the format the levels are stored and load them in a separate program on PC or something. I bet this wouldn't be too hard for games that were made with industry ...

I don't want money. It's not like I don't want to do it either. I just don't have as much free time as I used to. Frankly, I would like to write an emulator from scratch for my next project.

Unfortunately, I haven't worked on that for over a year. I'm just a very unmotivated person. Forgive me.Christuserloeser wrote:Last thing I heard was that you were working on Dan Loosen's RPG ... What became of that project ?

Re: New updates to NesterDC SE...
I have definitely been in a lazy mood in terms of doing side projects. If it would make enough people happy I might consider revisiting NesterDC SE. I don't have a dev environment set up right now. I should just get the DCDevISO and play around. Maybe I'll begin to feel the force again. I dunno.

Come on, the graphics looked fine. I think there is always too much stress on graphics and not enough on gameplay. At a certain point, graphics are simply "good enough" for me. Anything more detailed doesn't add the the game's enjoyability.

No, they could have just stopped making more Street Fighters and came up with a new concept. I'm still curious how it plays; I'll rent it.Calavera wrote:They kind of had to make it in 3D.

The ones in the Chicago area closed about a year ago. I went to their Going-out-of-business sale and there was already nothing left. CompUSA was my store of choice until I discovered MicroCenter and TigerDirect.

Thank God. Most Genesis music sounds like metallic vomit.az_bont wrote:butters wrote:There have been a few different projects that successfully replaced the soundtrack in select Mega Drive/Genesis games (including Sonic 2) with a proper MP3 soundtrack.

If it was within a distance of a 2 hour drive from me, then yeah, I'd come. Obviously that would never happen, as Darc said, the travel would kill any hopes of this ever happening. Still, if the opportunity arose, I would try to come. I would be the most boring person there, though... No, I think I...

Is that the Portuguese version of carajo in Spanish? Whenever my wife and I are in Ecuador, her family randomly yells CARAJO, especially when drunk on the national beer, Pilsener. I'm not exactly what it means. It's just some strong exclamation.Manoel wrote:Caralho

Re: A Multi System Emulator, Possible for DC?
I feel that if I could just write the emu with the idea all along that the graphics would be driven by 3D graphics card like the PVR instead of a frame buffer, then I'd have a higher chance for success. Old-school VDPs do basically everything line-by-line; I'm not sure using modern hardware for the...
