Where are you getting that? That wasn't my intention at all.
From your post. That's what it comes across as.

Re: gustav sucks

You arrogant fuck. We do actually get that high of winds where I grew up. I never said that high of winds were everyday, I said not unusual. I wasn't trying to belittle the people affected by the hurricane, I was stating my experience. And you're right, I havn't felt a wind that can move a car, I h...

Re: gustav sucks

Any particular reason you're being an ass? An extra 20 mph I really wouldn't expect to cause billions in extra damage. But what do I know, I'm just an ignorant hick from Montana right? Correct. I was "being an ass" because you were being an asshole, and I figured one step removed from whe...

Re: gustav sucks

What confuses me the most is how technology has improved so much but buildings just don't stand up to these storms the way the older ones do. Maybe technology has designed everything to be so fragile :o Thats one thing I've never understood either about all the hurricane areas. Where I'm at in the ...

Lost a few shingles on my house and rear screen door. Tree lost a significant amount of branches, but all utilities except for power is up at my house. Still staying with my sister until power is restored and also depending on what Ike does.

Re: China: The Smog-Filled Land Where Nothing Is Real

Interesting story: Everybody in China has a photo-ID card issued by their local police station - it's primary ID for everything. One of my wife's friends stops by today and shows me her ID card (because she has lost a lot of weight since the photo on the card was taken and she is kinda happy about ...

Also, according to the New York Times (and later checked by the AP), some of those girls were in prior competitions with different, later birth dates.

Doc Martens..... eh. I like the whole lasting a long time thing, but I really don't care for the look whatsoever. I'm rocking a few different kinds of vans slip-ons right now. Yeah, I've got a pair of Vans as well. They're probably my favorite brand of shoes. Instantly comfortable with no need to b...

I'm not sure anybody really cares about the UK scientist's interpretation; I pretty much forgot about it within 30 seconds of reading the article, because I thought the correlation itself was interesting. The article is crap (like most mainstream science reporting, sadly). But the Swedes only noted...

Plus, just because brain size is similar doesn't mean much. They were correlating symmetry, not size. Correlation does not prove causation. That doesn't mean that a result like this can simply be ignored. There are only a handful of explanations that are even remotely plausible. No, they were compa...
