Re: 9th Circuit rules for "licensed, not sold"

Of course, with this decision out there today, there's not much to prevent sellers of other media to add similar licenses to their respective products. Just stick some stickers on Blu-Ray discs stating that by opening the shrink wrap you agree to X. I'm not convinced they're GOING to do this, but fr...

Re: New iPods... thoughts?

The Nano looks like it'd be a good watch, but it's actually too big for that in my opinion.

On that note... I find it interesting that the older generation iPods have higher storage since they phased out the HDDs.

I've seen the iTouch and iPhones and what not. They're pretty spiffy. But, eh.

Re: People who believe Obama is Muslim on the rise

It's not even close, and the fact that our news media is focusing on (and even taking seriously) the "issues" it currently is... well, that's an outright travesty. I think a part of the problem with the media at times is actually their attempts to be fair. Sometimes, when there are two si...

Re: People who believe Obama is Muslim on the rise

If you look above, you'll see a perfect example of liberal bias! Since we're basing the entire right wing of the political spectrum on a few extremists, let's just call the entire left wing Stalinists! That's fair, no? Oh, wait. It's opposition to your own political views! Sorry for hatemongering. ...

I also can't wait for party members ditching mid-dungeon because they've stopped getting exp. Well, you can switch classes in the middle of a dungeon. But yeah. This does not seem like a good idea. Even though I was never a hardcore player in the only graphical MMO I ever played for more than a few...

Re: PC Gaming hardware outsells all current gaming consoles

As soon as new consoles were released, you didn't sit there saying "I love my NES, I'm not upgrading to the SNES". Well, I recall wanting both. And I remember being disappointed when they stopped releasing games for both the NES and SNES (especially the SNES, since with it 2D platformers ...

Re: Anyone here have an Arcade Cabinet?

So... I've been thinking. I'll be getting my own place relatively soon. And my Neo Geo cabinet is probably not coming with me. Its trip into a basement was basically one way. While I might eventually get a Neo Geo candy cab, in the mean time I was considering something smaller for the apartments/con...

Re: 2 Nights of Condemnation

Condemned 1 and 2 were both pretty enjoyable. I think the overall design of Condemned 1 was better, though. The storyline got needlessly complicated in the second game. And the second game got a bit TOO much into guns. I did like how you get a lot more sense of the lead character's personality in th...

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Fatigue System

This is pure gold. You pay money every month to play an MMORPG, then get penalized with zero experience if you play for too long on a single day. I'm a hopeless WoW addict - especially because I can see how they have carefully developed a pay-monthly game that I can never finish. But forcing people...

Re: People who believe Obama is Muslim on the rise

It seems with each passing day the USA is becoming less "the land of the free" and more "the land of the white christian heterosexuals". Perhaps it was always like that, but at least people pretended otherwise. On the latter, it's actually quite the opposite. It's just that as t...

Futurama is like the Simpsons, only not as extreme. They deliberately have a pretty loose continuity. They just don't really care.

Re: Your man in Japan!

One thing I will say, if you pursue any Japanese girls be prepared to get dumped as soon as they get over the thrill of dating a foreigner. Every Japanese girl isn't like that, of course, but I've known a few people who lived in Japan had that happen to them. One of them got dumped by a phone number...

Re: PC Gaming hardware outsells all current gaming consoles

I have a PS3 and an Xbox 360... the most action either of them see is when friends are over for some Little Big Planet or Super Street Fighter 4. My serious gaming is done on my PC. I'm a Total War/FPS/MMO nerd, and I like my resolutions high. Plus, I take the mouse+keyboard over a controller anyda...

Re: Anyone here have an Arcade Cabinet?

I have an actual hardware Neo Geo standup, with a 25" screen. It's a one slot, which is a little annoying. It's also a conversion. In retrospect, I should have waited for a 4 slot non-conversion. It only would have been like $50 more, maybe $100 more. But as is, it cost like $320 and came with ...

Re: PSPhone is happening, based on Android 3.0

Moreso when you consider the UK price includes sales tax (which I don't think the US one does?) No, it doesn't. They rarely do that with big products because there's such a large variance in sales tax state to state and even city to city (there's a few places that don't have one, point in fact). Ho...

Re: PC Gaming hardware outsells all current gaming consoles

Apparently piracy effects PC gaming more than consoles... That may play a part, but I think standardization of console hardware coupled with ease of use are much more important. Considering how ludicrous the tech cycle was at one point in PC gaming (I remember having a two year old PC that couldn't...

Re: Bought an Action Figure

I played BioShock on PC, which is a flawed port. All the physics engine stuff is locked at a low frame rate, which just looks strange. That said, it felt a bit too much like a console game, if that makes any sense. Didn't like the insta-respawn thing, never been a fan of that in FPS games. I also ke...

Go to a regular electronics store, and you'll still see tons of new plasma sets. And new ones are still being developed. From what I can gather, the black levels on LCDs are finally getting to plasma levels, but in color reproduction the best plasmas are still the best.
