Well mastered VCDs are better then VHS in some ways and worse in others (high action gets macroblocks even with the extremely expensive proffesional encoders - but there is generally no overall fuzziness). VCD wins overall for a simple reason: it doesn't wear out. That's why I've never been a big VH...

Of course Virtual on uses it! I've known several people who bought two DCs, two twin stix, two TVs and a link cable just for Virtual On (total cost of like $500, a lot cheaper then the arcade machine). That's how popular that game is. I can't judge it as I've never used the twinstix and it stinks on...

Sega needs to release the stuff to host servers. It's not like it's hard for them to do. They better do it or I'll hit them.

A more interesting poll would be how many have you have LEGIT copies. I'll admit I have a pirated copy (I'm not a huge shmups fan, but I like to try them all out - Ikaruga is such a tiny download I couldn't resist the evil power of the Dark Side), but I'm going to get the legit one. I've been trying...

About backups/warez: Some warez load faster then the originals. And since others just load the "entire game" into memory and have the CD audio ripped (so the motor just stops, ala NesterDC) some pirates definetly wear the DC out less - that's the exception of course, rather then the rule.....

"VP3 video codec support"

I didn't see this anywhere, if I missed it sorry..

Has anyone messed with VP3? Is the codec free yet? I know it wasn't when it was called ON2 video. Is the quality better then DivX? Any weaknesses vs divx?

" Sounds like you didn't encode your video with the right settings. " Well, no matter what you do it'll be lower quality in the conversion. Sad truth. Though filters can sometimes make crappy VHS better.. I have a question. What would look better, a 90 minute 700 meg divx at 640x480 conver...

Depends on how new. The last 4 months of DC production can't play ANY CDs. Try playing a normal Audio CD in your DC. If it can play that, it will be able to play emulators and such.

Well... I sold one of these on ebay and it went for $31. I'd suspect it would of gone for more if I'd of had a picture. I didn't put one cause the thing was kind of ugly, with raw wires and such. Been thinking about selling my really good model (which functions as a full DC controller and has a NES-...

Navi, yeah, just solder it back on. You could actually just solder directly to the board, it's just harding then doing it to the wires. On my THIRD NES controller, I managed to keep the quantum pad working, and I have a cord which comes out of a drilled hole. Much slicker and no visible duct tape an...

One of the mame emulators can play Neo Geo games at like 75% speed with sound, and close to full without. At least I believe that was about what they were at. And of course, only 12 meg or smaller neo geo games worked, so there weren't to many.

The fly swatter game was badass, to begin. Pretty easy, but badass. Second, back then the computer image editing/movie making programs frankly SUCKED (for a beginer, I mean). Bah. I'd rather play the original Zelda via Nester (or the cartridge, I do own it of course). But then, same can be said for Zelda 64, Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, a Link to the Past and the other two GB Zelda games. I'm strange that way. 8) Good luck with the mod, you sound like you know what y...
