Yeah, it's pretty fun. Have you been here recently?

For as small of a town this is, amazing how many people went there.

I'm appreciating life a bit more this morning...

My favorite bar in town just blew up this morning along with about four others and a couple stores. It's a miracle it didn't happen tomorrow when there would be a lot of people there...I would have been one of them. It happened in the historic part of downtown, the buildings are supposedly around 10...

Re: Dual screen slowdown?

Is you video card up to the task? Should be...it's a 1900xtx. Right now I switched over from the WDM beta drivers that automatically were installed to the vista ones because CS4 wasn't able to use the GPU acceleration. It's probably a driver thing. The ATi/Nvidia drivers are shit for Windows 7 righ...

Dual screen slowdown?

I've been running Windows 7 since the beta came out, absolutly love it so far...
I just picked up a second screen, works great, but theres a huge slowdown. Booting is slower, opening applications is much slower, the system is just overall significantly slower.

Any thoughs on this? Thanks.

Re: Overheating issues

Thanks, good to know that might be an option.

Well, it's almost been a week since I installed the 32bit verision and still havn't had a single "thermal event". Any ideas why it wouldn't be doing it now?

Re: Overheating issues

Hey, thanks.
I'm thinking I'll just save up and get a new one eventually. I switched to 32bit W7 instead of the x64 and don't seem to be having the problems anymore. It's actually a gateway, could you even switch chips and have it still work?

Re: Overheating issues

I didn't. The fan doesn't sit on the heatsink since it's a BTX case so I didn't feel a need.

Overheating issues

I have a desktop with a BTX case and a Pentium D. I've had it completely restart a few times now, when I reboot it the bios says there was a "thermal event - (CPU overheating)". Checked the case, clear of dust and the fan was turning. Just for good measure I switched out the fan, but it's ...

Re: Recording from camcorder to PC

Honestly your best bet it to use nero vision. It'll import video from the card, you can do basic edits, and then burn it.

Re: Building a new PC, again...

I'm running windows 7 x64 as my primary OS right now aswell.
So far absolutly zero problems, seems to run things significantly quicker than XP sp3 was for me...could just be the fresh install though.

Re: Building a new PC, again...

Go with windows 7, they've got the beta on their site for download...save you the money until it comes out.
Just installed it today, so far outperforming XP and vista for me.

Re: Vista

I'd really like to try Windows 7 but I'm having problems shrinking my hard drive enough to make a new partition to install it on. If I install it over Vista as my main OS, will it be easy to get Vista back later without having to format and start over? Nope, pretty sure you can't go back again. You...

Re: Sleazy Verizon rep... whoah.

If it's not too far out of you way, I'd recommend running down to the local verizon shop and ask...maybe see if you can get anything in writing.
Verizon's data packages are pretty shaddy in my experience.
