How about in 2002? That's the last time I tried using Linux (Red Hat, that is, that's all I see on shelves, so that's what I download). It was like this: Configure your network as the only fixed-IP conputer on your DHCP-configured network. Set up a domain, and suffer with constant errors. Fight with...

If it's in the BIOS (actually, the ROM, smart one :-) ), then why can my cookie-cutter DC, as well as many others, read CD-Rs?

Hey, does "compile, install, delete, redownload, extract, bash head on keyboard to continue" ring a bell for Linux?

Seeing as though the lens on a DC is exposed to everything that goes on around it - no tray - it's not uncommon to have a dirty lens. Go ahead, take a Q-tip or something and wipe it off - gently, though - there are very tiny wires attached to it that, if bent too much, will break and render the whol...

Strange how only one person mentioned mplayer2. It used to be top of the line, and still is, as shown by the fact that it's still included in Windows XP. It used to be an upgrade for Windows 95, then it was succeeded by the over-"featured" Windows Media Player. Microsoft decided to complet...

Buy his, then tweak the small variable resistor on the laser (careful) so it has a more powerful beam, and hence, can read CD-Rs like usual. Then send me yours so I can use my all-powerful knowledge to fix it :-) See? I could probably attain world peace with all this incredible knowledge I have!

Yeah, you can boot DOS. You can do many, many, many, many things in DOS you can't do in Linux/Unix/Freesh*t OSes. Get a free (hey imagine that, like Linux!) DOS starter disk at http://www.bootdisk.com . I used to run a CTX EzBook (P1 166, 15 RAM, SB16, PC card) off DOS on FLOPPIES because the hard d...

DreamSNES for "W*ndows" users??

Looking on the apparently "main" website, http://mc.pp.se/dc/dreamsnes, it would appear that its developers are, sadly, *nix nuts, by the way they used a not-for-the-average-user *nix version of the tools, used *nix commands, and made Windows users (the 99% majority of the users) feel not ...
