What is the connection speed of the Dreamcast serial port? I thought it was faster than the controller port. If so, could somebody run it through there? Somebody at DCEmu.co.uk made a coders cable that ran to the computer's USB instead of through a serial port. Perhaps a variant of that could be use...

Just a thought...
Now, in porting Quake or Quake 2 to the Dreamcast, is not the network code still in it? Well, why doesnt somebody just graft a GINSU to one of the Quake ports, so it will have multiplayer?
