Re: VQ Texture

Try to search in all kos files for an implementation.
If there's no, then no chance. Maybe KMG goes as separate library?

Re: Starting Coding again (AtariOwl)

It may seem odd, but remember where i'm coming from. On the Jaguar, those were the facts of life.Everything was done from scratch, no OS at all, essentially no libraries. Coded in ASM. And every byte had to be fought for. I think that on Dreamcast situation didn't changed drastically. You have a 16...

Re: Starting Coding again

Crab, I'm deeply sorry, but what are this thing that you're constantly talking about when it comes down to even mention the possibility of usage of one of those old Dev kits. Who the hell would even care about them, not to mention all that licensing crap, when particularly at this moment almost 15 y...

Re: dreamcast graphics comparison

So the dreamcast wouldn't be able to have a game(rpg for example) with 5 million polygons with effects added ? This would be impossible right?
Yeah, something like that.

Re: dreamcast graphics comparison

MadFiddler , all the things you said are true, especially about the part with developers and etc, but you forgot one thing: all those factors doesn't make Dreamcast hardware any better. Katana libraries, I think, already (at the state of it's release) had maintained most of the hardware features in...

Re: Weird error while building ta.c

Wow guys, you wouldn't believe it but I've fixed that shit! What I done first was: kos-cc -E -P 2ndmix.c > 2ndmix_preprocessed.c It gave me the preprocessed output of a file. Then I run it again. kos-cc 2ndmix_preprocessed.c It gave me the following output: $ kos-cc 2ndmix_preprocessed.c 2ndmix_prep...

Looks like some horrible XML. Why do you need to write it on your own by hand instead of just creating it from some source data?

few questions about a dreamcast toochain

Well, lurking trough some toolchain catalogs, I found a bit strange, that some files are just copied thru different catalogs. If you cd in, like, in /opt/tooclhains/dc/sh-elf/bin directory, you'll saw there files: sh-elf-addr2line.exe sh-elf-ar.exe sh-elf-as.exe sh-elf-c++.exe sh-elf-c++filt.exe sh-...

I'm too lame to read all the thread posts, but... they released the sources of engine or editor for it?

I think 3d development kinda abandoned for all those years for Dreamcast...

Re: Dreamcast (and Saturn) development under linux

Is there a guide on how to set it up through an IDE? Like netbeans, or Eclipse? For Codeblocks there's a comprehensive guide on DDER4 disk. For Eclipse and NetBeans there're lot of 'em on the web - there's nothing specific to Dreamcast. You just connect gcc crossplatform compiler and binutils(linke...

Re: TIMER MILLISECONDS KOS

By the way, if you want to see how your algorithm works, you can copy-paste your program in some IDE, like visual studio, codeblocks, or eclipse, and run your program in debug mode.
You can see variables and go step-by-step thru all your declarations, watching which way program actually go.
