Re: KOS - KOS-PORTS mismatch?

Okay, found the problem. It's in build.mk. You have this for copying an an entire directory of includes if [ -n "${HDR_DIRECTORY}" ] ; then \ cp -r ${HDR_DIRECTORY}/ ../../inst/install ; \ fi But that's an improper usage of cp. "cp -r dir1 dir2" doesn't copy the CONTENTS of dir1 into dir2, it copies...

Re: KOS - KOS-PORTS mismatch?

Okay, I cleaned up, made sure I was up to date (I am), did a rebuild, then checked every lib. It's SDL and tsunami... which were coincidentally the two examples I tried to build. Both have inst/include/include as the include paths. I didn't see any others with that issue, so it's not nearly as bad a...

Re: KOS - KOS-PORTS mismatch?

The sample environ.sh has pristine as the subarch instead of DC. Is that fine? I always enable 'navi' instead. Both pages have equivalent instructions. As to what I mean about the includes, let's look at SDL as an example. After running build-all.sh, you have /opt/toolchains/dc/kos-ports/include/~SD...

KOS - KOS-PORTS mismatch?

I've recently updated to Xubuntu 16.04 and slowly rebuilding my cross compilers, and I've spent the weekend on KOS. Using this page , I was able to get kos and kos-ports to compile, but none of the examples using kos-ports work because they can't find the includes and libs. The "new" design for kos-...

Re: DCEmu Decides the 2016 Presidential Election

Was that email scandal really that big of a deal? Was it even a deal? If she were one of the peons, she'd have gotten jail time for it. In fact, the last person to keep gov email on her personal account was charged with treason. The lightest punishment others have gotten for what she did was being ...

Re: Upcoming KOS release - Testing needed

Yeah, that's what I thought, but nope! They actually did that for every release - 1.6.x, 1.5.x, 1.4.x, 1.2.x, and 1.0.x. The old arcs are gone and nothing but the new fixed version remains. But I did find the old versions. The proper path for 1.6.18 would be ftp://ftp.simplesystems.org/pub/libpng/pn...

Re: Upcoming KOS release - Testing needed

I just updated my KOS install and ran into a minor issue. Libpng updated to 1.6.19 due to a couple security vulnerabilities being found, but they deleted the 1.6.18 arc. Only the 1.6.19 arc is available in the 1.6x folder. I bumped the makefile to 1.6.19 and edited the distinfo to SHA256 (libpng-1.6...

Re: Purupuru functions not working ?

If you want a practical example, I used FF in my port of Doom for the DC. The main code routines look like this static int ff_enable = 1; static int ff_timeout = 0; static int ff_frequency = 0; static int ff_intensity = 0; static int ff_select = 0x10; ... // Force Feedback void I_Tactile (int freq, ...

Re: Issues compiling KOS

Bash is not standard on some distros. For example, Ubuntu has been using DASH instead for a year or two now. Some bash scripts are not *nix compliant, using bash-specific extensions. Those will not work on systems using a "standard" shell, like dash. I worked out a bunch of bash-specific issues with...

Controller test

As part of working on a new port of BOR I've been testing some six button controllers (my thanks to Chris for sending a Total Control 3 adapter). Here's a little proggy that just shows the four controllers (if present) - it shows the name, the capability flags, the current button status, and the ana...

Re: Problem with KOS 320*240 50hz/60hz mode ?

320x240 is 4:3 in VGA with square pixels, but the pixels aren't square in NTSC. 320x224 is roughly 4:3 in NTSC, so you need to rescale graphics or they come out stretched. It's not a problem with the DC or the software, just the way TV works.

Re: 3D physics/collision libraries that work on DC?

Funny, I was going to mention a port of Bullet I helped with on the PSP. The biggest problem that port ran into was the HUGE amount of stack you can wind up using. The issue I helped track down was the demo the guy was using was using almost 1MByte of stack space (the default PSP stack was 64K).

The Hitachi manual is copyrighted by Hitachi, but was released to the public BY HITACHI for free so that programmers could use their processors more easily. Public release is NOT the same thing as public domain. Now the PVR manual has NEVER been released to the public in any form at all - it's still...

Re: FAT FS on SD cards

I took a break from DC stuff for a while, but I'm back again. I always cycle through the consoles periodically to keep from getting burned out. :)

I need to update my Doom port. Maybe use the v2 of Chocolate Doom so folks can also play Stryfe and Heretic.

Re: OpenBoR Dreamcast port

First, let's talk about resolutions... the DC seems to have a fixed pixel clock with the ability to divide it in half for "low res" modes. The pixel clock is fixed at a frequency that gives the usual 640/320 wide display. The 768x480 mode in KOS is merely showing more of the overscan area of the 640...

FAT FS on SD cards

A number of us have SD adapters for the DC now, but all we've had in the official repo is an EXT2 filesystem. I'm used to working with ff, the FatFS from ELM-Chan. It has a license that is compatible with KOS, and is fairly good, so I decided to port it to the DC. The archive contains two folders - ...
