Oohh............. kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, it appears if JoyMenu exists in the ID1 directory, then HexQuake will happily run on my DC??? WTF? I thought it didn't do any PAK detecting until it got to the Titanium Studios screen as such, not before? This really sucks though, because I wanted to ditch JoyMe...

My Dreamcast doesn't like HexQuake anymore

It's weird. It used to run HexQuake fine before. I burn CDs with cdrecord similar to Fragger in his self-boot tutorial (except the binhack doesn't really apply since the 1st_read.bin is a Windows CE binary) and I've worked out that with any other MIDWAY_1.EXE it'll run perfectly. Yet, when using Hex...

The loader with the "No Limits" track was a hack of Chui's early Fenix runtime/loader (he did give permission for it's use though), it was PAL only back then, however there's some loading issues with certain BoR mods so it wasn't released with the latest PAL/NTSC Fenix runtime/loader. I take it tha...

Questions regarding ScummVM DC

1) Does it support any compressed audio files yet? MP3? OGG? Would OGG take up a lot of memory though??? 2) Would it be possible to have the DC port use the same GUI as the other ports in the future? The simplistic one it's used for ages seems to have a dodgy game-detection system, plus I don't get ...

Can RadQuake Finito only play mods in Paks?

I ask because I seemed to encounter two different results with two particular mods when testing its mod support last night. Simpsons Quake (as was offered for download from the QuakeDev site in the past) seems to work fine with it and all, but the MST3K Sound Replacements addon seemed to have major ...

I take it this was the new idea that was worked on for some time as an alternative to just improving raw? I must say congrats! :)

I quite like the whole romdisc idea also - how easy would it be for anyone to implement a virtual romdisc for other emus/games/apps as well?

Who wishes for a new homebrew-based DC like with GP2X?

Think about it - if Sega would be okay with the idea (and perhaps even help out a bit), the technology could be upgraded to a better model for our homebrew needs - more RAM, bigger VMUs, possibly even an HD if the model changed size a bit. And perhaps technology could be implemented so that it would...

Might as well say finally, thank you for the pattern-altering hints! Although I also might as well ask, what made you switch from midi to mod when developing nxDoom? It's not all that handy in the end as the many XM wads you have to make means less room for more mods on the CD. Maybe we could see a ...

Why does JoyMenu stop the demos from running?

I examined the startup scripts it uses but it does reference demo1, demo2 and demo3, yet it doesn't play them. I tested QuakeDC without JM and the demos ran perfectly then. What's the setting to make JoyMenu/HexQuake/et al boot the demos like the original instead of going to the menu? While we're at...

What different Mod Loaders are there?

I ask because it seems IMR's loader from '04 isn't all that good, to be honest. =P I seem to recall another loader I temporarily tried in the same year, but I can't remember who made it. It was one with side-scrolling selections and played the oft-remembered 2 Unlimited poptastic hit "No Limits" in ...

Ah, okaaaaaaaaaaay......... perhaps you could pretty please give me a step-by-step guide on how to add one of these "position jump command"s to any XM of my choice? I'm not very knowledgeable on those.... this is something to be done in ModPlug Tracker right????

How do you make your own XM wad for nxDoom mods?

Because I think BlackAura must have somehow does his XM wads in a special way. I was using tools like XWE, Winamp and ModPlug Tracker to extract the music from all my mods, convert them to MIDI and then convert them to XM/IT. Now I notice that with the default XMs nxDoom auto-loops the music every t...

Hmmmm, this I found while googling for said source.

I don't see why these XBox homebrew things have the source on good supply in the first place. Surely source releases can't be as dodgy as binary distributions?

EDIT: this also.

Is it possible to implement JoyMenu for other ports?

I feel it would come in dead handy with, for example, QuakeX for the XBox. The only thing I'm concerned with is that it uses DC-specific bindings, all beginning with "DC". I'm not sure how easy it would be to change this for XBox, I know there's already a potential to use the same left/right d-pad c...

When I try to use Makaqu on my DC, it keeps giving me an error whatever game I select on the list, because it claims "/cd/quake/id1/pak0.pak" to not be a valid PAK file. WTF? It hasn't been modified or replaced in anyway, it still has the 1996 date stamp and everything. This makes me sad :( I don't ...

How do you rip music from BOR paks?

I know there's an extractor that extracts PAK contents and everything, but I notice that the music is in some unique format with a .BOR extension. I can't seem to find anything that could play this format, like a Winamp plugin, nor can I find any BOR-to-WAV tool anywhere. Is this for protection purp...

Concern about compatibility with old arcade emus

First off, I hope I'm not getting into too much trouble by talking about something like this... Basically, I'm a bit concerned that all those multi/single arcade emus released for the DC in the past will be practically obsolete/useless, because roms tend to get altered/updated/changed with each grad...
