So Motorola waves a collective fist at Jobs: "Sneaky bastard! Giving us a crippled version of Itunes! Who could have known? Man that turtleneck dude is crafty!" Meanwhile, Sony execs collectively crap their pants. In unison. Schedule an emergency meeting to make all future Walkman phones glossy whit...

Yes, analog sounds "nicer", I agree. But digital dudes claim it's not completely true to the original recordings. A lot of variables are added to the LPs playback, and sometimes they result in "nice" "warm" sound. But the hassle of keeping LPs (I had quite a few), and the expensive equipment needed ...

No, we weren't being sarcastic about your knowledge of analog audio; I was just joking about all the issues that come with using LPs: warping, pops and clicks, wow and flutter, cleaning discs, etc. That's why most people cheered the arrival of CDs. The LP holdouts claim higher sound quality, but tha...

To avoid that, always remove the shrinkwrap on LP jackets. Most people didn't, and there's the result. They used to sell some nifty cases, kinda like giant CD cases, for LP safekeeping. Anyway, here's the old school way for fixing warped LPs: Get two sheets of glass; nothing else will do. Sandwich y...

For me, the best way to test speed is to just download a large file. Web speed tests tend to be inaccurate. Most likely, you'll see that in downloads, you pretty much get your advertised speed, while web tests show slower results. On a 1024kb connection, I get 500kb results on MaCafee Speedometer, b...

Yup, Biostar has proven to be kinda flaky, in my experience. My cable modem died, and the Biostar motherboard didn't survive... and the integrated video was very unstable, rebboting whenever I switched to a 3D view in Autocad. Check out Foxconn mobos, really. Biostar prices, and DFI performance. I'm...

Well, I must agree Soyo was a hit-or-miss affair. Their high-end motherboards weren't that bad. But their Intel motherboards were pretty crappy. Prescott CPUs ran unbelievably hot, and they're hot to begin with. Weird thing is, they've been makinh hardware since the 70s. Soyo LCD monitors are pretty...

Like Juan said, in order for it not too look tacky, you need skills... If you can pull it off, you'll impress the ladies. I know calligraphy, and a card I make beats a Hallmark any day of the week, but it takes time to learn, and getting the equipment. Otherwise, she will be amused, and even charmed...

The Shenmue experience is akin to reading a good book: you just sit down and play, and don't have to worry about how it will end, you'll find out sooner or later. And not all games have to be non-linear. Imagine if movies were like that. A lot of people hate non linear movies. In the end, non-linear...

Well, I'm far from being an expert on the subject, but I had the same questions recently, and I decided to stretch my budget a bit, and reach for a better video card. In the end, you just won't be satisfied with a sub $100 video card. You'll be left wanting more. I chose the 7600GS, a card that seem...

Sorry, my bad. It's a 7600GS. The main differences I could see between them were exactly those: Shader Model 3, and the transparency antialiasing thingy. I think I'm gonna go with the X800GTO, since the 7600GS is a bit more expensive from my supplier. Maybe, when I educate myself more on the matter,...

Help mariobro with SATA - Video Card dilemma...

So, heres the deal: I've upgraded my crappy PC, to an Athlon 64 3200 and PCIE motherboard. It's working like a charm now, but I want to upgrade more stuff. My IDE ports are now full, with my old hard drives. If I add a SATA drive, I can use all drives, right? I suppose IDE and SATA hard drives can w...

It's easy, just be very polite and affable, and most of all, sincere. You don't want to sound like a used-car salesman. Mainly, the questions you'll be asking will determine the buying power of the customer, so you can make appropriate suggestions, to maximize profits for the store. We could sugar-c...

I got a good outfit suggestion for you: khakis and a white cotton shirt. I mean a button-up shirt. Not a polo. Preferably, long-sleeved, with sleeves rolled up. Some nice, brown or black shoes, and you're set. Just watch all the details in your grooming and appearance. clean shoes, a good belt, and ...

I would have liked to meet her and pork her .... about 15 years ago...

Not to be mean, but she was hot then. Then she gained a lot of weight, even using CG on some of her videos to hide it. Around 1990-91.

Well, that is nice, I must say. I could only afford a Celeron-based Acer machine, but it has a nice 17" screen, so I'm happy with it. It barely runs Virtua Tennis, but then, you can't expect a gaming laptop for about $800. I'll be replacing that Celeron with a Pentium soon
