Uh-oh - is this going to annoy everyone. I was getting annoyed that Eearthworm Jim 2 was complaining about being NTSC only - couldn't work out what the problem was so I put an override for the Mode that the emulator runs in. This mode (Auto, Jap, USA, Eur) makes the emulator look like a Genesis / Me...

...and now I played it again and the player was perfect, but now all enemies had that color bug. There also was something funny with Sagaia (Darius II): When I first played it, it ran perfectly (I've noticed no problems), but today I played it again and it had some brown borders where they should b...

Just for larks, I added the (already written) 6-button support in... It's optional, because some games don't seem to like it (Earthworm Jim for example). I've mapped the option to the 'X' button, since no-one ever turned on FPS and I can't face writing a tonne of menu code. I've been able to do this...

Well - I did it to BA once before, looks like I'm doing it once more. I've got a build of GP with some enhancements which I'm going to share with you all, I can't remember if it was functional, I've pretty much stopped my DC work (at least for the near future) - some brave soul is going to have to t...

I use Chankast for development - it's missing a console output which is a shame, otherwise I'd use it more.

There really is much more things going on than it seems.
Yes - it is kind of refreshing, isn't it - and more than a little pleasing.

I remember telling that to somebody once, the thing about 'positive feedback'. A better term would be "constructive feedback". I'd rather get a single bug report, or comment about features and whatnot than 100 "awsome work"s. I only partly agree with that. I want to know if people are actually usin...

I still have one or two projects kicking around that might see the light of day before the end of '06 - it's all just a matter of motivation... The thing you helped me with Metafox, that ought to see another release before too long - and another project I started looking at. I would like to do somet...

Excellent Work Scherzo - how many times has it been said? Not quite enough... Excellent Work! Oh... but! There is always a but... My setup doesn't have any analog support - I know it's kind of wierd - but I have the DC in an arcade cabinet and have the joystick wired to the DPAD - hence, no analog j...

So is it relatively easy to convert things written to the KOS API over to Tiki? It might give BTime, Joggle and DCRTronic a new lease of life if I can get them running under DC, Win32 and Mac...

Is there a simple 'how to use Tiki' tutorial somewhere?

scherzo: the DC is capable of any resolution you want within certain limits, the thing is that KOS is simply configured to normally use a certain amount of different ones. you could get the exact NES resolution by a bit of kos modding. It doesn't actually even need KOS modding - there is a version ...

I think I'll go off topic for a moment too! I wholeheartedly support the idea of a better development community fostering better communication between the devvers - I think its a great idea and we should do it and all contribute to it (I know I will)... ...But you know the real problem with developi...

Re: libmp3 visualizations?

Does anyone know how to get visualization type information out of libmp3 on the DC? I am trying to tie some graphical output up with music being played - not sure how to do it... I'm not sure exactly what you mean with "visualization type information"... Beat detection? Spectrum analysis? Oscillosc...

Oh - I read a little deaper into what you were saying about needing to 'load' levels. If you use the concept of layers that you mention (lists in my parlance) then you a level is simply a set of objects in a layer - so each level is represented by a file containing object instances and the layer to ...

The engine that I put together which drives all of the games I've been working on (Joggle, DC-RTronic, Burger DC and others) treats everything as an 'item' - including sounds and text - I chose the word 'item' because its all written in C, there are no objects - although conceptually its the same. I...

i love puzzle games! i played ur first version(i think it was) and loved it though i notied something kinda odd. there is no limit to how many letters you can highlight at once. so you could just highlight 1/4th the area and find a whole bunch of words. my friend kinda screwed me over with that whi...
