Re: Shenmue 2 USA for Dreamcast - New Custom Cover

Bumping an ancient thread. I'm glad you were able to recover those. Umm... that's just the Japanese cover with the template of USA photoshopped over... Nope, I did the back from scratch. The front shares most of the visuals with the Japanese cover, yes, but it's from an actual digital file (I can't ...

Re: What the R422 mod actually does

I modified a European Dreamcast by connecting R512 to +12v and running region changer. Before the mod, the 60hz games ran at PAL60. I don't like this because the DC PAL60 output is weird-looking over S-Video (luminance of the colours doesn't seem correct), and I have to use S-Video until I get a new...

Re: SCART RGB to Component!

You can't easily get VGA-style video out of a Sega Saturn, can you?

Re: Region Changer 1.5

Sorry if this is a silly question people, but, using the dumped bios from the Dreamcast dev kit, can I have the cool alternate startup sequence on my standard Dreamcast? If so, how?

Re: SCART RGB to Component!

Dabisu, yes, it will work. European RGB SCART cables work fine on Japanese and American Saturns. I've tried it myself. Secondly, the scan-rate is determined by the machine - NOT the cable. Connecting the RGB SCART cable to the Saturn will output RGB60, which the transcoder will turn into 480i/60hz, ...

My Dreamcast is already chipped......... therefore would it be possible for me to just burn the Region Changer to disc and run it like that? No. You need to connect the point indicated to the +12V part of the board for the changes you make using the disc to take effect. Edugabo: Using the disc to s...

You should be able to get video using only a VGA-VGA cable and the VGA box. Just be sure the box's switch is set to "PC" mode rather than "TV".

Also make sure the TV can accept 640x480 @ 60hz. Most should be able to.

For those interested, any owners of PAL Dreamcasts who want NTSC colour instead of PAL colour (I'm talking about the colour system, NOT THE SCAN RATE), then do not bridge R422 - leave it as is . If you only connect R512 to the +12v contact then run the disc, you will have a Dreamcast that's function...

Just did it back there, works absolutely perfectly. Whoever wrote this is a fricking genius. Now I can play game without worrying if it's going to run in 50hz or not. Thanks so much! The only thing I've noticed with this program is that on my European Dreamcast, choosing "NTSC" doesn't actually give...

Thanks very much for this info, just what I need to stop some games booting in wretched PAL 50hz.

But I'm not sure I understand totally - I do the hardware mods shown here and then run the utility program?
