Re: Maximum Resolution on Dreamcast

The PS2 is actually capable of displaying 720p and 1080i with the right cable. I don't know if any games used it. Yeah, I think the only game to use it was GT4. Gran Turismo and Tourist Trophy, which was also developed by Polyphony Digital, support 1080i. Wikipedia used to list 'Spongebob Squarepan...

Re: PGEN help

or it cant be written on a dvd-r or what but I am getting pissed off now.. I have no idea if this has any bearing on it, since I haven't burned a PS2 disc in a good 3-4 years, but looking at two of my old discs, they were burned on DVD+R, not -R. Also, have you tried just using a normal CD-R? To my...

You can use a CRT computer monitor if its hooked up via a VGA adaptor--at least, it worked for me with the official Sega gun.

Re: iPod Shuffle Turns Weird

The controls are now conveniently located on the earbud cord. I would have thought it more convinient that they remained on the iPod itself, as that's the part that will be clipped to your clothes or in a jacket pocket (where most people keep their hands when they're out and about), and not flappin...

Re: U.N. to Israel - You're racist!

I DO seem to recall a number of specific rules and laws in Israel that benefit Jews. IF we're going to consider Jewish people to be a race (which it isn't under Israeli law, or at least it is not a group you have to be born into under the law) that would certainly make the state of Israel a racist ...

Re: Stupid question regarding HDMI and optical audio out....

Wait, so having my PS3 hooked up over the optical only output in stereo? I never noticed that. For Blu-Ray and SACDs. Games and DVDs will output Dolby Digital / DTS. As long as you've properly configured the optical output in the settings menu, you should get Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 with Blu-...

Re: Stupid question regarding HDMI and optical audio out....

If it turns out that you can't get anything out of the optical output (I know mine is only for the built-in digital tuner), then you could go with an optical switcher--you can pick one up for less than $10US on eBay. http://images.marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/hi/61/61482/POTHTSLSWT1_es_L.jpg

Re: Too Late: Global Warming Irreversible

i've noticed this global warming 1st hand. we had 1 day above freezing this past month. Yep. Just like here in St. Louis, no murders for a week, so we clearly no longer have one of the highest murder rates of a major city in the US anymore. yeah, because murder and weather are obviously related in ...

Re: New version of XDP?

So is the ban on XDP lifted again? I understand it, but it seems almost back-asswards. It probably isn't all too accurate ot talk of bans on discussion of particular software as our last few attempts at clarifying the rules on this sort of thing have stalled, as we've been unable to agree even on w...

Yeah, there was, though it isn't a port of anything.
There was also a planned Gameboy Color port of the original game that was never released. It isn't that hard to imagine why:

Re: Gamecube SD card adaptor/reader

The N64 program is so slow as to be worthless, and I can't seem to get the TG16 program to run Dracula X. There is a way to alter a Virtual Console download so that you can use alternative ROMs with the official emulators--at the very least, someone was able to play the N64 version of Goldeneye on ...

Re: Ever wanted a REAL HD Sonic 2?

That video looks and sounds impressive, but like every single other Sonic remake/clone I've ever seen, the physics barely resemble those used in the original Mega Drive games. Unless they get them working properly, I can't say I'd have any interest in playing it. Would it be at all possible for them...

Re: King of the Hill "Canceled"

I used to like King of the Hill--I never thought it was tremendous, but it was worth a watch. But for the last few years it just seems like watching a fly-on-the-wall documentary about some very dull and unfunny Texans going about their everyday business. I've been pleasantly surprised with the epis...

Re: George Bush: Last minute "thumbs up" to polluters!

This reminds me of an earlier story : President George Bush signed off with a defiant farewell over his refusal to accept global climate change targets at his last G8 summit. As he prepared to fly out from Japan, he told his fellow leaders: " Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter ." Pr...

Re: Wii SD Card

From what I read when shopping for an SD card for the Wii about a month ago, the console does not support SDHC cards. This means that the Wii is limited to ordinary SD cards, which are no larger than 2GB due to some sort of addressing limit within the original spec. Prior to the introduction of the ...

Re: List of unlicensed, pressed Dreamcast software

"DC-X for Dreamcast" was an import player by Future Console Design, part of the Fire International Group (aka Xploder/Blaze). A similar product known as DC-IE (Import Enabler) was also available, and may well have been a simple territorial re-branding. EDIT: According to myself , DC-IE lac...

Re: Hard drives question

However, I wouldn't really classify video encoding as being especially disk intensive, as even a monster of an overclocked quad-core could still only encode DivX video at a small fraction of the maximum read/write speed of an ordinary hard drive--the conversion speed should therefore be identical e...

Re: Hard drives question

When performing a simultaneous read/write, disk-intensive task (in this case, converting 4-6 GB .VOB movie files to DIVX) is it better to: A. have the source and destination on different hard drives B. have the source and destination on the same hard drive I've always sort of assumed "A" ...
