The development team recieved a 'Cease and Desist' order due to the name 'Freecraft' causing possible confusion with the names Starcraft and Warcraft, and also some of the ideas within the engine were too similar to Warcraft 2.

Harddisk virtual memory

Just a question. A while back someone got a harddisk connected to a dreamcast. Would, in theory, the transferspeed between a HD and the DC be fast enough to use the harddisk for virtual memory? Or are there other bottlenecks (as well) to prevent usage of a HD this way?

A mistake in my sentence. Let me rephrase that sentence so one less gifted can understand. Doom and Quake both ran perfect on a 486/33 with 8mb. Quake and Duke Nukem 3D most certainly did ran well on a 486/33 with 8mb at 800x600. Univbe did exactly get the stuff going. Get everything you can in the ...

Doom and Quake both ran perfect on a 486/33 with 8mb at 800x600. Duke Nukem 3D did slow down a bit when too many enemies(sprites) appeared on screen, but otherwise it ran like a dream at 800x600. You should've just used SDD's Univbe VESA 2.0 drivers. A nice peace of SOFTware that gave incredible spe...

Maybe one should accept that RAM-limitation and focus on what can be done within those limitations. Most times one can program around the RAM-limitations. With the N64 one can't because the RAM is required to load the complete ROM. With most other programs however good programming can result in bett...

Would that 320x240 be displayed fullscreen on my dreamcast or do I have to actually watch it in 320x240 on my screen/monitor?

Does DC-X (DC CD Convertor) the same as Utopia?

Does anyone know if the DC-X (DC CD Convertor) is usable as a bootdisk for emulators and ports in the same way as I now use my Utopia bootdisk 1.2 for that purpose?

Exactly! I would be one of those people. I got myself a Playstation 2 this Christmas and hardly have been playing in on it. I'm just sitting back waiting for Virtua Fighter 4. Virtua Fighter 3 was one of the reasons why I got a dreamcast in the first place. After the Saturn-fiascos I was pretty irri...

I am from The Netherlands so I shall refrain myself from making guesses about the US and Japanese situation, but in the EU it was simple mismanagement. The three main reasons were: that Sega never lived up to its words, horrible distribution and the practically complete absence of advertising. I don...

I took it up with 3D Realms and what I was told is that the source of Terminal Velocity being released is just a false rumour. Really a shame, but alas, more shall be developed for the Dreamcast. Of that we can be certain.

I'm not very familiar with the capabilities of the Quake-engine and so far I'm impressed with what you have done with it so far, but still one question remains. Does the quake engine allow walking from one level back and forth? In other words, is it possible to create one large 'world' existing out ...

MS- or DR DOS emulation?

I don't know very much about programming and I am just wondering since they got Linux to work on the dreamcast as well.

Would it be possible to get MS- or DR DOS emulation on the dreamcast? In a High Level Emulation form or something like that?

What else can be done on the Dreamcast?

Now that Quake, Doom and Wolfenstein have been proven to run on the Dreamcast and Marathon is well under way I wonder what else can still be released for the Dreamcast? Would the dreamcast be capable of running 3DRealms' build-engine? That would/could result in at least 3 more great games. Duke Nuke...

Now that conversion of Doom looked great. You should just release the converted files and let the whole DCemu-community figure out how to get it to work on the dreamcast. About the Duke Nukem-jumping problem. If I recall correct you could easily edit some .ini-file and change the gravity and thus el...

With the auto-save option turned on it saves whenever there is a change in the SRAM. You see this happening when you see a small VMU-icon in the top-left of your screen.

With the auto-save option turned off you save when you return to the menu from the game.

Zelda-save-problem confirmed

I only tested it with The Legend of Zelda so far, but I've got the same problem. It does save the file onto my VMU and if I restart the game from within the game (selecting save and quit in the game itself) my save is still there. If I however play another game, re-open Zelda from the ROM-menu or re...
