You might want try Freevo (http://www.freevo.org). You'll need more than 350Mhz to run a nice desktop. I have a 400Mhz with 256MB RAM running Debian with Fluxbox and it is pretty slow. Well, I just reinstalled Mandrake, becuase I couldn't stand GNOME, and trying to install KDE from GNOME kept giving me errors. Anyway.. I noticed something. Why not, dare I say it, Gentoo or Debian PPC? Why use them? Why not? It seems you are looking for a UNIX derivative and on Mac they seem like more viable options. BSD and Linux are both pretty similar to work with for the end user in terms of basic commands installed etc. If you're ditching Slackin...
