Re: Might take a break from PSO for a while...

Yeesh. TAP doesn't work with wireless now? I guess I would've noticed that in my own tests, but the LAN cable didn't work either because my laptop is Win10. I guess this is just more proof that the laptop will only ever be able to play offline, because I'll be damned if I start lugging around an ent...

Re: Might take a break from PSO for a while...

I made a thread on this board a few months back where I asked various things relating to Dolphin network setup. The short version is, you need to get the OpenVPN TAP adapter installed on your machine and then bridge it with your active connection, so that Dolphin can have its own (software-based) ne...

Re: Might take a break from PSO for a while...

I would advise anyone using Dolphin to use a 4.x version, specifically one that supports keyboard input. I believe the build I have is 5130(?) but I'm not at my own machine to check it. There are also newer ones. I'm just too lazy to update and feel like sticking with what works. For performance... ...

Re: [GC] Ep.2 Challenge Mode

Since you seem to have a squad for this now, I'll sit this one out and maybe join you on another playthrough. I've been focusing more on my old game as of late, anyway. But good to know that this is getting done. :)

Re: [GC] The Ends of Desire

Sounds interesting. I've definitely been hurting for a good Temple and Spaceship grinding quest. What are the enemy counts like? Also, just making sure of this, are there any rooms in SS that suffer from the "no drops" setting?

Re: Might take a break from PSO for a while...

Four out of my six memory cards were third-party and they've never given me a problem over the years. Granted, I play on Dolphin now, but I've used the physical cards as recently as a few months ago, no problems. :P Your mileage may vary, of course. What I would do is recreate your characters at lv1...

Re: PSO Questions & Answers

Dolphin's BBA emulation is pretty bad under Windows, so PSO still crashes quite a bit, especially when you try to load quests. I feel like it needs to be said that you can always make memory card backups for this purpose, since Dolphin's memory card files are easily copied just like any other file....

Re: [GC] The Twisted Towers

Sounds great. Any mitigation to the trainwreck that is GC's ATA system (its only major design flaw, IMO) is more than welcome.

Now just make a LHS equivalent for Temple and SS and that would cover every base I can personally think of.

Re: BSOD; lost items

Should I assume this is not frowned upon in the "backup" sense but is in the cheating to gain an advantage sense? Define "frowned upon." There are people who play legit and there are people who don't. Both are fine as long as they don't break the game - I can only speak for myse...

Re: BSOD; lost items

I always had an extra memory card for that purpose. It held a character each for my HU, my RA, and my FO weapons. When I duped, I would create at least five at a time of each weapon the character owned, then gave them all to the dupeholder. When FSOD occurred, I'd restore from the dupe holder charac...

Re: BSOD; lost items

All you really need to do is ask people online; many people have either an AR, proxy or some other kind of "hackback" method. I personally can back up my memory cards because I use Dolphin, but this would only produce one dupe per few minutes... relatively inefficient. XD Of course, if you...

Re: [GC] CRC check or any other measures ? and stuff...

@Sir_Rappington what do you mean when you say your Dolphin client hates you ? :3 Sorry. Just my way of saying that it seems to drop what other people call when I'm lead, but never what I want. XD And the above-mentioned Nar Lilies thing as well. And at least 50-60 runs of FoS without a God/Battle. ...

Re: [GC] CRC check or any other measures ? and stuff...

I don't know much about the specific mods you're using there, but there are definitely hacks which nullify rare drops, at least in online games (and those factors I think would be client-sided). I can also say it's not Dolphin's fault, as I play in Dolphin (without mods) and I do see rare drops. The...

Re: Want to say Hello

If you're worried about the price, the Dolphin route might be your best choice. Assuming you have at least one GC controller already, that Mayflash adapter will only set you back $15. Failing that, I don't think it'd be hard to find a GC for $30 or cheaper as well. There's really no reason to own on...

Re: Want to say Hello

Using a Wii works pretty well for getting online. It can get a little bit laggy depending on where you're connecting from and how many other people are trying to use a Wii to get online, but it works nicely. Plus, then you have the ability to use your normal Gamecube controllers and such. You will ...

Re: GC Keyboard

You could always use the Dolphin emulator. Granted, you'd need to remake your GC characters, but it does have built in keyboard support (after a certain version).

I wasn't aware the adapters were so rare. I still have mine, don't use the GC much anymore though.

Re: Want to say Hello

I don't know if you're aware, but Dolphin is entirely capable of connecting to Sylverant. AleronIves and myself both use Dolphin for GC. You just need the OpenVPN TAP adapter and bridge it with your LAN connection. There's a couple of threads about it around here somewhere. However, you might have a...

Re: Hunts & Findings

Agreed, it was great that c9 went off without a hitch despite us not finding enough HP mats for Katt at the end there. c6 was the only roadblock. Made a mechgun for Durple. Not sure if I have enough PDs for a special though, and I haven't decided on one anyway, so for now it'll be rockin' the standa...

Re: Hunts & Findings

I've noticed that the game will randomly fail to connect saying that it couldn't contact the DNS server, even if nothing is wrong, and if I try to connect a second time, it works instantly. I would guess that if you have another server set as DNS 2 that when this happens the game will connect to yo...

Pffffft. Figures you'd find all the decent stuff on the runs I wasn't in. How many runs have you done, anyway?
