I have completely removed the original PSU! The new PSU is sitting on that breadboard right now. I've got it running without that big honkin CPU fan now, so I will be able to compact it much smaller. My PSU should be a good bit smaller than the original one when it's over with. I think in one of tho...

Alrighty, I have a smaller heatsink and I salvaged the fan out of my broken down DreamCast to attach to the heatsink. I'm powering that fan by my 5v circuit. With the smaller fan I might get 30 more seconds battery life out of my battery! lol I am now going to look into recharging circuits for Li-IO...

If you get a PS2 go with the big older one, not the new slim one. It would be very difficult to get a PS2 to work without ever having a the DVD-ROM working though. To get you on the right track, this is what you would need: 1. Older PS2 2. PS2 Network Adapter (Not the cheesey USB one, be careful on ...

Hey guys, I hate to bump this topic up, but I decided it would be good not to start a new topic. I decided to play with this project again after a couple of years. I wanted to fill everyone in on my progress. I'm kind of excited actually! I have been powering my DreamCast on a 12V laptop batter for ...

I've done this mod with a 3rd party PSOne screen. The screen I used already has the AV/Out Jacks, and I was able to power it off of the 12V lead on the DC power supply. I've posted everything I've done to it in this forum. Here is a link to the thread. http://www.dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?...

I had a cathode tube once when I was in the hospital so I could piss in this bottle thing. I didn't enjoy it that much, so I dunno if I really want one of those on my PS2. Sorry

You guys ever put an afterburner in your GBA? I did, and I have some lint between it and the LCD. It seems like the afterburner must've had some adheasive on that side because I can't pry it off to clean that crap out. I can only see the lint when the screen is black, like menu screens or those olde...

Correct, the design is still linear, but the current will not all be focused on the LM317. I think most of your heat is because the LM317 is only rated 1 Amp, and your pulling 3.0 Amps or more through it. Your having to do one heck of a job heatsinking it, and I'm amazed that it hasn't cracked on yo...

Pyro, the schematic I've found will be using the three LM395 power transistors, and the LM317. The power transistors will keep most of the power off of the LM317 while it does it's job of dropping the voltage. It looks like it is going to be very efficient, but those LM395's are are around $3 US eac...

I remember you having the issues with yours on the 3.3v because it uses so much current. I have a 5 Amp 12V DC transformer that came off of some old electronic device. I'll get the model number for that if you need it. The circuit for the 3.3v is going to be the LM317 that you used, but I found a sc...

It's NTSC for resolution. As for the AV, I removed the PSOne connector which was soildered to the screen via a ribbon cable. Then I wrote myself a schematic to determine which pin went to which part of an AV cable. Then I'm using the stock AV cable for the DC. I'm also thinking of adding a VGA adapt...

Just out of curosity, you may want to reseat/clean the PSU pins. It's possible that one of the pins is dirty and is cause just parts of the DreamCast to not get enough power to run. There are some instructions somewhere in these forums on how to do this to your Power Supply.

Nice project! You are doing a great job on this. I dunno if it would work, but would fiberglass be a good option for the casing? You could use that tinfoil as a mold for the fiberglass. Oh, I'm from South Carolina too man! Small world!

Pics of my homemade TreamCast.

I'm not going to keep calling this a homemade TreamCast, but I knew you guys would know what I'm talking about. So far, this is what I've done. I've installed a 3rd party PSOne screen to the back on my DC. It is made by Interact. http://www.nucklez.com/images/dreamcast/DreamCast001.JPG 1. In the abo...

Yea, that's one of the big hits is the analog to digital controller. I've seen people mention getting a burned out Flat Panel monitor, but who's to say the controller isn't the problem in the first place. I'd have to agree, the PSOne screens aren't near the quality of what a laptop screen would be.
