Re: Final Fantasy 13 on XBox 360

I'm actually more looking forward to Star Ocean on the 360. Is that one coming out on the PS3 as well, or just 360? I normally don't like citing ign, but http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/880/880441p1.html So, it looks like it will be only for the 360 for now. Actually, this surprises me more than th...

What is a reasonable price for a Sega Saturn?

So what does a used Sega Saturn go for these days? A local (well not so local) classic games and toy store is asking $40.00 for one. This seems a bit steep to me since no games are included. A glance at ebay shows that winning bids can vary quite a bit (I mean systems that come with 3-6 not so rare ...

Re: Finally finished Chrono Trigger

Congrats. Now you can move onto Chrono Cross if you haven't played it already. One of the best for the PSone, imho. Chrono Cross also has multiple endings (22? I don't remember). If you play to get the "real one", a question relating to an event that happened in Chrono Trigger will be answ...

Re: 10.5.3 released

I've applied the update after the usual fix permissions, etc. I haven't noticed any problems, but I didn't really have any with 10.5.2 One change I noticed though... Word 2008 launches in about 15 seconds. Subsequent launches take about 4-5 seconds. I also have sp1 installed. That's about half the t...

Re: Whats a good Linux distro to start out with?

I've played around with PPC versions of Linux in the past. My only experience on the Intel side is Ubuntu. I installed it as a virtual machine under VMware. The install was pretty painless and everything worked out of the box.

Re: My keynote predictions

I'm not terribly excited about the MacBook Air. It seems like one is losing a lot for more money for the sake of portability. Okay, so it is thinner and lighter than a MacBook. However, how much in space and weight would I save if I have to lug around an ethernet adapter and an optical drive? Can it...

Re: Anyone interested in a 60GB PS3

I just bought one from a friend that never used it, and realized i'll never use it (other than a blu ray player) I believe it's a first gen (so it has the EE included for backwards compatibility) one thats gotten hardly any use, again its a 60 gb, comes with all cables and a controller. I'll also i...

Re: Overcoming CDRecord problems

I'm too busy the rest of the week to look into this again. Maybe this weekend. From the original thread, I can't see why I was getting working discs and he was getting coasters. Honestly though, I haven't burned a disc for the DC in over two years. I know it has been awhile, but there is one thing ...

Re: Overcoming CDRecord problems

Yes, making sure the disc is unmounted is an important point. I assume he is using the directions I posted in the original thread which I think had that command in there. You can also go to the system preferences and and set the finder to ignore inserted blank discs, but that only works for the firs...

Re: Overcoming CDRecord problems

This may not help, but have you tried using cdrecord 2.x? More drives are supported I think. I've used that version in the past without any issues. These were with Apple stock drives. Not sure about 3rd party. I'd send you a pre-compiled binary, but that machine has long died. edit: I just followed ...

Re: New Free Oblivion content this week only!

I think there are about 8 or so downloads available. Only a few of them are worth it. Don't bother with the spell tomes. FrostCrag Spire is worth it if your character leans more towards using magic and you don't have a place to hang your hat. You can summon a familiar to aide you in battle. Mehrunes...

Re: Best Zelda?

I voted for A Link to the Past. Big time nostolgia factor for me. Many 2D action RPGs have tried to copy it, but none of the ones I've played have it just right.

Re: New Free Oblivion content this week only!

I can't complain since this was free, but I'm left with the impression that this was meant to be something more, but it wasn't finished and released as is. My guess is that this is intended to be the equivalent of Frostcrag Spire for fighting characters given that you get a forge, personal trainer, ...

Re: Halo 3 Impressions?

Anyone have the collector's edition? I was working today and I'd say most of the people that bought or reserved the collector's edition had to bring it back. Apparently the packaging isn't too great, and the discs were unplayable right out of the box. I did, and the game disc was scratched up like ...

Re: Marvel vs. Capcom 2

From what I understand, the PS2 version isn't any more rare than the Xbox version; both are pretty rare and people will spend insane amounts of money them, even though one could buy a used DC and the game for less.

I've always heard that the DC port is the best, but I can't confirm or deny that.

Re: Shinobi vs. Ninja Gaiden

All I can really compare are the 2D games. I have not played the 3D versions. Shinobi sucked a lot of quarters from my pocket back when it was in the arcades (this dates me horribly I guess). However, I have to give the nod to Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 even though I only played the NES versions (there wa...

Re: Got a Saturn for $20

American football is like a physical game of chess; it's all about finding weakness in the opponent's defensive line and getting the ball past them. Football (soccer) just seems far more entertaining to me just because it's free-flowing and isn't strategy-heavy. As for the strategy aspect, I guess ...

Re: Modded Xbox for sale.

I'm not really interested in the sale, but as an aside, aren't there ways to configure a softmod console so it can be used online (something about having the MS dash load as the default or whatever....)? Sorry if this is a dumb question as I'm not an expert on it.

Re: shivering isles oblivion expansion

I don't know if the problems have been fixed. If they haven't, I'm not going to bother. Even if they have, I'd hold off on the online purchase. The game of the year edition is due out in a few days. It will retail for $60, but will include all of the downloadable content. Now if you have bought some...

Re: Free Command and Conquer (and other games)

Damn; not only are they free games, they're all AAA titles! And not ancient ones, either. I have a Mac, so I can't try these myself, but I have both PoP and Rayman for consoles anyway. Good find! Don't you have a Intel based Mac? Unless it as integrated graphics... I suspect these games should play...
