heres a tip when soldering to the pins, you can remove the rectangular piece of metal thats right above them. It just gives u more room to work and makes it a hell of a lot easier to solder.

Any possible problems with this?

Ok so i just did the modem LED mod, and to get it to fit in the plastic case i took out a piece of the heat shielding. Does anyone think this should matter? By the way I took off the piece thats closet to the plastic not the one thats close to the extension plug.

lol speaking of the DC viper I actually just painted a DC like that and i'm just waiting for it to dry before i put it all together. I did the same vent thing that you're doing, but to make mine quasi-original i added "headlights" to it. Once its all together ill post pics of it.

If thats the case it sounds like the lid switch is loose. Take off the top of your dreamcast, and with the controller ports facing you, look at the back right hand corner. What you're looking for is a little black switch that pushes backwards. Once you find it see if it wiggles side to side if this ...

The thing with these shiny paints is the metallic flakes in the paint settle to the bottom when you spray and as the paint dries the shine works it way up to the top of the paint, maybe thats why the red wasnt shiny at first.

yeah i've found that out myself. What I did was cut two dime size holes on the front side of the system next to where the controller port is. My intention is to fill the two holes with pieces of plexi and mount LEDs behind the windows. I think my biggest mistake with all of this is is that i bought ...

I keep mine because if you get rid of it you're left with an empty indent in the shape of the logo. With my friends DC i ended up painting the swirl black, it was definitely tedious but the results were nice. I used a super fine tipped brush that i bought at a hobby shop and some acrylic paint and p...

Yeah becuase the two voltages are relatively close, but in my opinion i would stay away from U/V LEDs. I bought a pack of 3mm 3.6V and when i hooked it up it wasnt too too bright. Granted it was during the day so that could play a part too it, but it is your choice plus they're cheap so you could bu...

It does say the voltage. Once you get into the LED category and it lists all the LED choices, click on the LED it will bring up a spec sheet for that LED. What you want to look at on that sheet is the "Typ" and the "Max" on the forward voltage parameter. The "Typ" is wh...

Well I live in America so Radioshack is a good bet. As for using the internet people on this site recomend http://www.lsdiodes.com/ Personally I buy mine on ebay from an ebay store known as the "LED Store" because you can get packs of 10 to 20 LEDs for about 6 or 7 dollars with s/h.
