i bought one - and i must say i am very dissapointed with the product. Honestly i dont recommend it at all. I know some people are anti MS here but picking up an Xbox and installing Media Centre and either Xenesis or NeoGenesis is a much wiser option. Back to the AR Max - all the features advertised...

does it need to be done in software using SDL?

im thinking with pvr rendering - im assuming you use a vertex buffer to perform rendering, all you would need to do is alter the z values. let the hardware do it if its feasible

well i've spoken with some of the Chankast devs. First thing to say : they are a very talented bunch of coders so it might be possible to get it running on Xbox. But the biggest hurdle to overcome would be the dynarec they uses. Its 48 Megs, so you lose 48 megs out of 64 right there without any othe...

personally i would recommend Rice 5.6.0 and Direct64 plugins.

Jabo's are great as well, but they havent been updated in a while and have less compatability than Rice's

even though the Xbox cpu supports SSE, it would run really slowly.

probably not worth the trouble

im with Ian on this one but I wont introduce any sort of other protection other than whats in place currently. Its pointless because the source is GPL'd, people wouldnt even need to think they can bypass any idea you come up with going back to iso/mp3 support, i simply wont do it because it introduc...

yeah, i cant think of an easy way to lockout backups unfortunatly.

the reason i say my port plays real cd's only is because most xbox dvd drives are unable to play cd-r media. Unless you're an owner of an xbox with a samsung drive.

lots of xbox users want iso/mp3 support but im not budging

uhh just because we develop using an illegal SDK, it doesnt mean we have no care in the world and we go around ripping everything and everyone off. We are still coders and we still respect one another. I am a contributor for the Snes9x team. Yes i ported the source to the Xbox - illegally, but i was...

its not very well known, but it IS known. Xbox-Scene arent the be-all-end-all of knowledge ;) Theres a few things floating around the scene that arent talked about. This is one, the other revolves around getting on Xbox Live with a mod chip. I really dont know too much about this but ive heard rumor...

Quall: the gamedisc isnt signed with a key. Its the executable(xbe's) which are signed. the DVD itself is simply UDF format. Its not written in any wierd way or any other silly rumors you may have heard. However there is also protection on the DVD to stop them from being read on pc dvd-rom drives. I...

btw, can someone explain the specifics of the xbox game dvd's? are they anything special or just normal dvd's? I read somewhere that the number of characters on the dvd is limited. To what number, I can't remember. And apparently (this is just what I've read) they have some sort of protection to st...

you know? this kinda pisses me off

I question if they developed the emulator and mediaplayer themselves, or if they are using open source code. If they are are working from open sourced code then I hope Datel die a painful death and rott in hell.

the only thing the xbox version has going for it is no disc swapping.

its a average at best port - the DC version is superior all round
