[quote="MKE"] that's why im hesitant on buying a new console... were so used to seeing a huge difference in detail from console to console (ex pong to atari 7800 to nes to snes to n64 to gc) that i cant see there being that much of a difference this time around....and watching some of the ...

But the xbox isn't 128-bit - it's 32bit. The use of "bits" as a way of showing the potential power of a machine ended with the DC, which is 128-bit. After that, the term had no real meaning, as the Xbox being just 32-bits is clearly not inferior to the DC.

DC and Saturn

With the DC in a commercial sense a piece of gaming history (apart from the odd Japanese release), we can now look at it from a distance and judge it's "legacy", so to speak. We can also compare it's importance to other machines, namely the one that came before, The Saturn. On a teletext g...

I take it there are other cars on the track - it isn't just you all alone like many of MSR's stages?
It sounds like quite a good title, even for an arcade freak like me.

If you enjoy Outrun you'll like Daytona, Crazy Taxi, 18 wheeler and TXR 2 a lot more than MSR and LM24. You can say that LM24 is as soulless as MSR, but it's an excellent game! I played the entire 24 hour race (in real time) and its really good. I like the sound of Le Mans, and the way you describe...

Out Run has soul. MSR doesn't - it's a simulation, whereas Out Run is a game. That's why people are getting all excited about an XBox port of it's sequel... 18 years after the original.

I don't like the cold simulation that MSR is, that takes you 6 months to get past level one. I like games that you can enjoy. I also like the idea that you can race for 30 minutes round a track in a edited form of the 24 hour race - this appeals to me. But is Le Mans as soulless as MSR?

Yes I made a mistake and put "EA Sports" instead of SEGA Sports for some reason when I started this topic. But I'm quite disturbed how the topic heading and opening post changed by themselves so that they were suddenly correct. Those moderators sure are busy!

SEGA Sports Black DC

I saw this in a shop last week - a black dreamcast with the "SEGA Sports" logo on the top. I take it this was a limited edition. When were they made and how many of them were produced?

I'm surprised how negative some people are about VF3 - I've been playing it and it seems pretty good to me. But yes, not quite as good as Tekken 3. Maybe I can get that Bleemcast disc. Which is unlikely since it's nowhere to be seen nowadays, what a shame. So whats the best 3D fighter then on DC if ...

Xbox and DC - gaming similarities

I've been playing the XBox recently (it isn't mine) and I've found the gameplay aspect interesting in the sense that some games play very similar to DC games - Project Gotham and MSR for instance. The difference is more to do with polygons than gameplay mechanics, the XBox isn't a huge step up. One ...

Tekken 3 vs Virtua Fighter 3

Tekken 3 of course didn't come out for the Dreamcast (bleemcast?) but I'd like to know how you think Virtua Fighter 3 stands up to Tekken 3 in terms of gameplay. I played Tekken 3 and loved it (my favourite character was Law), but I never got the chance to play Virtua Fighter 3. As a big Yu Suzuki f...

Crazy taxi skill level in arcade

What would you say the skill level is in the arcade version of Crazy taxi? When you play the DC version, you have difficulty level selections where you are able to select between 1 and 8 blocks of difficulty. It's not an easy question to answer, but where on that scale would the difficulty and traff...

So does anyone know the answer to the question? When you play the game Shenmue II and you go to the local arcade and you have the selection of games like Space Harrier and Afterburner etc, can you play Out Run using a Dreamcast steering wheel?
