I've been doing this for a while... what I generally do is make a directory to hold all the files while I populate the thing with ROMs... once it's all ready, I move the ip.bin file to the parent directory, and just do like this (With NesterDC for example (in fact, I stole this from a script that ca...

Scrambling in Linux?

Has anyone made a program that (un)scrambles binaries in Linux? I've been burning all my stuff using Linux exclusively, and I'd hate to have to reboot into Windows just for this step...

Treasure Island Dizzy ---What is this games real name? GoodNES doesn't know this game and i didn't have it either I have no idea where I got the rom from, but I think I've had it for quite some time. The only NES emulator I have at the moment is MESS, and it doesn't seem to work in there either... ...

I don't think the directories matter... ScummVM seems to find the files wherever they are. For example, I had Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle on the same disk... since DOTT has Maniac Mansion built in, there's actually two copies on the disk... so when I boot up ScummVM, Maniac Mansion actual...

I downloaded the plain files for this, but they came with no information whatsoever. I've had no problems making selfboot disks before, but I need information about the directory structure and such. Do things have to be in specific directories? Or will ScummVM find them wherever? For example, I have...

I tried using STList, but had a number of problems with it... it didn't recognize some of the roms I had, and so didn't rename them or include them at all. It also takes a REALLY long time to do it's work (Of course, I had it working on about 2500 roms...) and doesn't show you a progress dialog (or ...

After playing some more today, I don't think DCStella is full speed at all... there's a noticable slowness to some games, and it's especially noticable when it tries to play music (try Donkey Kong Jr... the song it plays when you beat the level is noticably slow). However, I'm a bit of a hardcore 26...

Well, I just burned a DCStella disk about 5 minutes ago, and it doesn't matter what the extensions on the files are. Some of the files ended up as *.bi files (missing the 'n') for whatever reason, and they still work fine. Stella just reads whatever is in that directory and lets you play it. It's al...

Where can I get Demo Menu?

Where can I get this program? The link from the DCEmu Tools page seems to point to the Alcohol download page for some reason, and with the DC Homebrew site down, I'm not sure where else to look.

I haven't yet tried DCStella, but my guess would be that the extension wouldn't matter. If you want your own names on the roms though, you can make yourself a rom_list.txt file. There's actually a program called STList that should do it automatically (Although I've never tried that either). I would ...

MAME questions

I've been a fan of MAME for quite some time now, and I'd love to try it on the Dreamcast, but I'm confused with all the different MAME's around... Is there any "best" version that works better than the others? Or are single-game versions what everyone uses? What is generally supported in t...

Well, I borrowed my friend's Nester 6.0 CD and tried some stuff... out of all the games I listed, here's what I found: Some of the games I mentioned must be somehow bad (despite what GoodNES says), since the following DO seem to work on 7.1 if I play the versions from his CD: Adventures of Rad Gravi...

Well, sure enough, Zelda 2 was a bad dump. In fact, I had a bunch of bad dumps in there, although the only two that caused problems were Zelda 2 and Marble Madness. Meanwhile, supposedly bad dumps of Athena and Dig Dug 2 (and a number of others) seem to work fine. Oh well, I guess I'll look for repl...

NesterDC Incompatibilities?

Everything I read tells me that NesterDC is pretty much perfect, but after burning a Nester disc, I've found that a number of the games that I included don't work properly. Some of them (Like Gyruss) show a black screen, yet I hear sound effects... others (like Pinbot and Tiny Toon Adv. 2) just show...
