Re: Ultimate VMU Development Resource

Well, somehow I was able to recover my DCEmu account  , and since we are talking about VMU stuff, I'll share some links to my OLD source code in case it's useful: VMU Backup CD: https://github.com/bucanero/vmucd VMZip: https://github.com/bucanero/vmzip vmu2gif (CLI tool): https://github.com...

I didn't realize speud purposly made that image like that. Anyway thanks, I guess. IMHO this whole "copy-protection" stuff its just plain bad for the DC community... not cool at all. I could understand it if it was a commercial software (like bleemcast discs), but if its freeware, then it...

I wonder if it would be possible to create a homebrew version of the Action Replay or Gameshark using Gamesharks own codes... First of all, GameShark codes would need to be decrypted to plain memory addresses. IIRC there's a gameshark code decrypter available. (Edit: I've found it here, with source...

GameShark/ActionReplay CDX Code Database

So... yesterday I was messing around with some html files I had with tons of GameShark codes, and I decided to build a Dreamcast cheat code database. Right now there's 3500+ GameShark/ActionReplay CDX cheat codes for 254 dreamcast games, but I'll keep adding more games and codes I've around. ...

Hmm, I know that the BBA is really expensive, but where could I get a Coders-Cable? If it's illegal or something of the sort then nevermind. You can get the coders-cable at Lik-Sang and many other places like Play-Asia.com. The coders cable is not illegal, it's very handy and you can use it to run ...

About Samba VMU files, you can check out here:

There are many "all unlocked" saves, I can't tell if they will have the song you're looking, but well, you don't have nothing to lose, right? :P

Looks neat. Too bad I don't have a VMU to PC cable to test it out with. :( Well, actually this tool does not require any kind of cable, you can upload the converted saves to any webspace and then use a Dreamcast browser like PlanetWeb or DreamPassport to download them. (And it will work just fine w...

DC Save Converter v1.0 released

This new Win32 GUI tool I?ve just released will help those who want to easily convert Dreamcast savefiles from .DCI, .VMI/VMS or plain raw saves to PlanetWeb?s .VMI/VMS format or Nexus .DCI format. You're also allowed to edit the file's attributes like name, date, copy protected flag, etc. As an add...

check the source code of any of my latest two released tools (DCI4VMI & VMU2GIF), because I coded some specific C++ classes to read/write data from VMI/VMS and DCI files. :D
So everything you're wanting to do should be explained clearly enough in my code.

VMU2GIF v1.0 released

Today I've released another command-line tool for handling Dreamcast VMU save files. :D This tool is called VMU2GIF and allows you to extract the animated icons from save files (either in .DCI or .VMI/VMS format) and save them as .GIF files. Here are some VMU2GIF examples, taken from some well known...

DCI4VMI v1.0 Released

I?ve coded a simple tool to convert Dreamcast savegames between Nexus .DCI format and .VMI/.VMS format. I know there are other tools to do this same job, but I think this is the first tool to handle both-way conversions without any other parameter than source file and destination file (for .DCI targ...

I guess the equation gives a good result for those who haven't burned any previous versions of my VMU discs... but if you already have'em burned then you ca...

Right now the vmu minigames cannot be transfered to a SEGA VMU, they only load into Marcus' vmu emulator.

if you want to easily build a selfboot image with any homebrew follow these steps:

MKISOFS -V CD_LABEL -l -o data.iso your_dir

(be sure to have IP.BIN and scrambled 1ST_READ.BIN in "your_dir")

then just use: BIN2BOOT data.iso /nohack

burn the .cdi and enjoy! :)
